Description

We are very grateful for the amazing attention Fallout London is receiving and want to thank you all for the great feedback! We're working hard to fix the reported technical issues and expect to release an update soon. Thank you for your patience and support!

Many of the reported issues appear to stem from missing one of the installation steps outlined below. While we work on improving the installation experience, please ensure you follow all the steps carefully.

- Team FOLON®

Fallout London is a total conversion mod made by Team FOLON® for Fallout 4 GOTY and requires you to own the base game on either GOG or Steam.

How to install and play Fallout London:

If you own Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition on Steam, please click here to access the installation's instructions provided by Team FOLON®. You will have to downgrade your version, then install the Fallout: London via our dedicated launcher.

If you own Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition on GOG, since our version is directly compatible with Fallout: London, you will only have to follow these easy steps:
  1. Install the English version of Fallout 4: GOTY Edition via GOG GALAXY and disable your cloud saves.
  2. Get Fallout London in our store for free.
  3. Install Fallout London via GOG GALAXY and launch it.
  4. Follow the launcher’s instructions, and enjoy!

A Polite Disclaimer

In typical imperial British fashion, Fallout: London will take over your Fallout 4 installation. Installing Fallout: London will make irreversible changes to the default Fallout 4: GOTY Edition installation. You’ll also need to disable cloud saves (as the save folder is shared between the game and the mod). If you’d like to play the default Fallout 4: GOTY Edition again, you’ll need to uninstall the game and the mod, and then reinstall Fallout 4: GOTY Edition.

I forgot I was playing a mod :O

I chose deliberately to play Fallout London with as few spoilers as possible. My 1st hour in, I had minor irritations. I was bothered by the design choice to prevent me from equipping armour and weapons, when control was returned to me. There was a branching room that led to nowhere, and I took way too long to progress until I blindly stumbled across a door that was nearly invisible in the dark (I was not given a torch yet). And I only got to leave the starting area after 20-30min. 2nd hour in, the world opened up. I was wary, scared, no weapons until I found the cane. I found the way out. I was outside in what passes for daylight in sunny London. I found a dog. I started exploring. 4th hour in.. I completely forgot I was playing a total conversion mod. This seriously feels like a game that Bethesda made. No, it's a game that you, every member of Team FOLON, made and you should be proud. For those having problems like constant crashes like I did, please visit the Discord. They have solutions posted. I fixed mine once I realised I was launching the game through the wrong executable. Gameplay: The quests feel dynamic and part of the world, even the fetch quests. Some of the quests feel hollow, like there could have been more to it before I completed it. For such a huge game there are of course many nameless NPCs for flavour. But overall 14 hours in, I am truly invested. Well done, FOLON! Now to get back to my game

Clearly Impressive... When It Works

The game feels more like Fallout than Fallout 4. It's gritty, dark, and brutal. The difficulty curve is a bit much but I guess it's better than the weird power fantasy that's Fallout 4 - expect to die a lot. Almost too much. If I had a serious criticism about the difficulty, it's that it's going for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. levels of grittiness but the engine doesn't support that style of firefights (i.e. no leaning, cover's either all or nothing, etc). You won't find ammo often, forcing you to use melee, but the game engine's melee isn't good. That being said, the world-building is incredible, the map itself far more detailed and intersting than FO4's Boston and environs, and it feels more like a horror game. It's quite impressive. The game would be a 4/5 but for one nasty issue: it crashes constantly. I have a beast of a rig that never gets crash issues unless the game is broken somehow, so yea, this game needs an update. The framerate drops I've heard of I haven't seen yet, but the load times between indoor and outdoor areas leaves a lot fo be desired too. Again, I have a beast of a computer, so load times are non-existant for me most of the time, but this game? Over a minute, sometimes two, when loading areas. I feel like if Cyberpunk can have quick load times, so can this mod. Maybe I'm asking too much here and should just accept it. But yea, 4 out of 5, despite being annoyingly difficult, when it doesn't crash, 2 out of 5 because it does. This score should change once we have some updates. The thing DID just come out.

Hoping to get a working version soon.

I was super excited for this mod since the first time I heard about it. Now, it's here, but it's really not. I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the furst day and didn't have any problems running it from the jump. I've been playing Fallout 4 with mods for years and never had any issues. Bu this mod, constant crashes, I have tried everything recommended on the Discord server and nothing has helped. I'm begging Team FOLON, please fix this mess.

Promising buggy mess

I was very excited for the mod to release and from what I have played the game is very good. The intro sets up an interesting story with good characters. The writing is good and the voice acting is very good for a mod. The problem I have with the mod is that for me it is currently unplayable. I cannot go more than a few minutes without the game crashing randomly. I have tried the different recommended graphical fixes and mods to help fix crashing but for me none of them work. I currently cannot give this more than one star because of how it has been released in such an unplayable state, But I am excited to play this once it is fixed as mu overall first impression was good.

There are issues...

Most of the game is amazing, but there are problems. The writing weakest point. I believe any of the writing or dialogue in the first hour of the game. The scientists' notes appear to have been written for a children's cartoon character, and the presumed antagonist really hams it up. I realize Fallout is all about humor, but it appears to be like I was meant to take these people seriously. On a technical level, the game is in an unacceptable state. If it weren't for everything else, I would have given this game a one star. It is really delicate. Things like icon misalignment and lack of support for ultra-wide screen is more of a Bethesda problem, but there is no reason not to include quality of life improvments out-of-the-box. Like everyone else, I crashed at the train. I ended up using Buffout 4 and Long Loading Times Fix from Nexus. That seemed to work, along with skipping the cutscene. It took about three tries after installing both mods and getting ultrawide to display in an acceptable way. I spent a total of about 5 hours of trail-and-error just to get the game two look right and get past the intro hub. There is also some weird design decisions/glitches/quirks. The "Pip-boy" isn't a Pip-boy, but you do get to use its light at first. The modders seemed not to know how to turn this off, but required you to pick up a lantern after failing to enter an elevator with voice lines on the other side of the doors. Picking up the lantern makes a locked door open, and exchanges your Pip-boy lantern for a much worse, yet more "atmospheric" lantern. I am not sure why this even exists. There are several parts that are blocked off in the intro hub, so if you don't have the correct stats, I guess that's too bad. This should have been tested more.
