Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results by the latest in Vault-Tec technology.
Eye-Popping Prettiness* - Witness the harsh realities of nuclear fallout rendered like never before in modern super-deluxe HD graphics. From the barren Wasteland, to the danger-filled offices and metro tunnels of DC, to the hideous rotten flesh of a mutant's face. *Protective Eyewear Encouraged.
Fallout 3 now with GOG greatness, installed and played a little bit already and it works flawlessly with no mods or fixes enabled, looking good!
Thanks.
I like the game very much, you have an open world, can interact with lots of characters and also shoot lots of enemies.
However, the game has a lot of bugs. In my case it is the Brotherhood of Steel addon. I needed a lot of console commands to start and/or finish several quests. Nothing you couldn't handle, of course, but a game shouldn't be that bugged.
But those are minor issues, all of my chosen mods word perfectly and I have already played more than 80 hours. I can recommend the game!
(If you want a reliable, working digital copy of this game, get it here on GOG! DO NOT Fallout 3 on Steam - it is utterly broken.)
This is Bethesda's first attempt at the Fallout franchise, taking over from Obsidian Entertainment.
Cons
It suffers from several large deficincies: somewhat poor, uninspired writing and voice acting to match; a watered-down RPG skill system; and large reliance on an overly simple combat system, which hasn't aged very well since 2008. Further, after a few hours, the player will get a sense of the lazy, lackluster world development that seems to plague most of the game.
Pros
None of these problems, however, significantly interfere with the awesomeness of this game. Bethesda's take on post-apocalyptia is relentlessly adventurous and memorable. This unique, nuclear disaster of a world, set in historic Washington, D.C., is immersively dismal, dark, and dangerous. The world Bethesda has created will entertain players seeking a sci-fi RPG rich in radiated monsters, power-armor-sporting soldiers with laser guns, vicious raiders and mercenaries, lovable characters, chems (drugs), nukes, mini nukes, and branching story paths. Decide who the Lone Wanderer is - the Savior of the Wastes, or just the next disaster for the people of the Capitol Wasteland?
Fallout 3 is constantly put on the scale next to its predecessors (Fallout I, Fallout II) and its beloved successor (Fallout: New Vegas). Those other three games were developed by Obsidian, the originator of the Fallout series, which wanted its games to revolve around a narrative-dense storyline.
They are also, without a debt, superior to Fallout 3 as RPGs. Appreciate Fallout 3 for what it is, because it definitely accomplished what it set out to do.
To players who have never played a Fallout game, I would recommend starting with Fallout 3. That way you can appreciate all of New Vegas's improvements without hating FO3's shortcomings (just don't start off on the wrong foot with Fallout 4...)
Even fixed for Win 10 it's very buggy. You can fall through things, get stuck, and freeze up in Fallout 3.. just like any Bethesda game. No other AAA company gets such high ratings for such reckless programming. I was *really* hoping this wouldn't be the case here. It does run better on GOG than steam at least. I bought it again because it is so fun to play, but my steam version doesn't run now. Even on GOG at 15 hours I'm getting regular bugs.
I will try another save file, but understand this *always* happens to me with Bethesda games. I have 100s of hours in New Vegas and Fallout 4, 100s more hours in each Elder Scrolls & I have never managed to beat 1. Not a single game complete because ALL of my saves have been corrupted. I have made so many characters, tried so many times, and I am sick of it. These games are great but they just aren't up to the standard of a AAA game without mod help, and even then you must scum save regularly.
Eng: I don't know how you did it, how you managed to do this, and what kind of sorcery is this, but you actually made this game work so insanely smooth. It's the very definition of smooth. Amazing game, great polish, and absolutely a must play.
I played this game on Windows 10, there were barely any crashes, and this is a Bethesta title we are talking about here. So, amazing work.
