Fallout

I was very surprised with how dry fallout 1 was (pun intended), the story and world is very dry with little personality. Most of the world is a grey blur, it really just exists to give the player a (at the time) unique setting for the combat system. The combat is obtuse yet overly simple; you have to constantly switch between movement and attacking instead of both of those being on a single button all just to walk up and punch something while controling only one character. The actual attacks are just percentile rng, you click on something to attack and you have a chance to hit and crit (at most complex you set traps down, stealth attack, shoot while your companion acts as a meat shield, repeat). You companions also have a random chance to hit you and the game is quite buggy. Not really worth your time unless you have nostalgia for the old fallout games.

This is one of those games I think are too old to be much fun. When I first played back in the early 2000s, sure! But the franchise has just come too far for this original entry to be much fun. No auto-saves! I got about an hour and a half in my first time, didn't even think about saving. I quickly learned to auto-save just about constantly. Graphics, not bad. It has a 2x render mode (doubled 480p = 960p) It works pretty well in full screen HD resolutions. Even lets you see more of the play space at once. Alt-tabbing sometimes turned the screen black. Easy enough to clear - just pause and un-pause did it for me. Controls are clunky. Read the manual, keep the reference card handy. Combat never managed to be appealing. Awkward, unsatisfying turn-based combat. I wouldn't want to see this remastered. Completely remade, maybe.

I've played plenty of older-style RPGs but none of them was so unbelievably boring as this one. go around switching between left and right click, with the most uninspiring story ever ("fetch this piece of scrap or we all die"), a "tactical combat" that means repeatedly shot and miss on rats... Not for me, sorry

Censored and missing goodies(avatars, wallpapers, bible, etc) and it costs 10.69$? Meh... Also game unbearably laggy on Dell Inspiron 15-3552 which is quite good to handle 30 years old game. You can understand the whole essence of the game immediately after leaving the Vault 13, even with a 75% chance of hitting the enemy, you can miss with the knife 4 times.or even more against basic rats. Bethesda made right thing to moving this to 3D.
