Maybe the greatest game of all time...?
NOTE: I do not own this game on GOG.com yet, my review is based on the Steam version. So you saw the trailer of this game here in the Store page and still want to know what this game is all about. Factorio is a game where you create contraptions to automatically process resources into refined resources, just so you can process these into other things, rinse and repeat. You start with creating objects by hand, soon after you start building factories and designing ways on how to process things automatically. Imagine a Robot-Buddy Supercomplex that plays a game for you, which infinitely grows larger as time goes buy, so you never run out of things to plan and to fix. I guess this game is somewhat compareable to Locomotion and the Rollercoaster Tycoon games, which are also here on GOG. So think about something like incredible Machines, but with you designing everything, while figureing out what exactly you're exactly doing in the process, so you can build a more effective factory later. So you are both Player and Designer in this game, at once, something no other game can possibly give to you. Thinking about possible effective ways to make sense of your super-structure is tons of fun. If you ever had a problem with your car, your computer or your television and felt the joy of actually figuring it out and fixing it yourself, this game does provide that feeling ALL the time. Mind you, every problem your factory is your cause, you have to figure out what you have to do in order to create an even more effective factory. There is also an action part of the game, where aliens do not like that you're plundering their planet and attack you. If Building and defending seems too stressful to you, theres a peaceful mode where you have to attack first. Mind you, this game is still in Development, and will be for quite some time. Regardless, this game provides a ton of fun. Regardless, I cannot give Factorio anything less than 5 Stars. You have to find it out yourself why.
