Description
Slice through the dark and own the night in your Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, the first operational aircraft to utilize stealth technology in its design. This isn’t your typical attack fighter, you’ll be flying sorties under the cover of night, avoiding detection by enemy radar and striking high-value targets with precision weaponry. You’ll want to haunt the battlefield like a ghost, menacing the enemy with earth-shattering ordnance before vanishing in your airborne apparition as suddenly as you appeared.

With a hardcore devotion to authenticity, F-117A brings you unprecedented night combat action. You’ll go through every phase of mission planning, from requesting a specific assignment during briefing to choosing your own munitions during armament, before then climbing into your cockpit and experiencing the thrill of dropping 1,000 lbs. of laser-guided destruction on enemy troops, tanks and bunkers. This is your chance to fly one of the most technologically impressive warplanes ever made.
  • Choose to fly either the U.S. standard issue Lockheed F-117A, with fully accurate weapon loadouts and realistic flight model, or a fictional MicroProse version that adds more destructive firepower and makes dogfighting more intense.
  • Fly your way through a diverse range of campaigns set in real-world “hot spots”: Cuba, North Korea, Kuwait, Central Europe, the North Cape, Libya, the Persian Gulf, Vietnam and the Middle East.
  • Unparalleled level of authenticity thanks to historically based scenarios from the Persian Gulf War, stealthy night combat, realistic HUD features and detailed cockpit graphics modelled after the real F-117A stealth fighter.

An absorbing game

I remember one mission, trying to sneak back to base, after accomplishing the main and secondary missions,, but there was this pesky YaK-38 sniffing around, just above me. He knew I was there, but his radar couldn't find me. I remember flying as low and slow as I could, to keep that detection bar as short as possible. I was more worried about stalling than being seen. That RTB lasted forever!! It is an awesome game; try it. For a land-based game of equal complexity and fun, try Seal Team.

The great Nighthawk!

Strifing through the night, in conflict zones all over the world, the Nighthawk is fulfilling it's missions with perfect precision and the enemy completely unaware. Bombing an enemy position and doing a reconnaissance run over bridges or bases in enemy territory, while flying the Nighthawk at 250ft above ground, whilst avoiding any radar site or aircraft, and returning home just with a minute of fuel left after a succesful run feels sooo good. Most immersive (and really good looking (for sound I suggest MUNT for Roland)) stealth flight sim I know.

Truly a good old game!

Still remember the day I bought the original. It was being sold in a Radio Shack. But I digress; I fondly remember playing this game. Spotting the target, open the bomb bay, launch your missile, close the bomb bay.....boom! I loved imagining the psychological effect this would have on the enemy. No sound, no hint that anything untoward is happening, suddenly an explosion rips through the night. Awesome game! Now, we need Jane's Longbow, WWII Fighters, Advanced Tactical Fighters...etc

One of Microprose's Hits

I bought this out of spite because I couldn't afford SVGA monitor & it's graphics card when it came out. I did extremely enjoy F-19. Played it from dusk until dawn, messed up my life, it's a "just 1 more mission" addiction. I played this game once over at my buddy's house and it blew my mind. I couldn't wrap my head around how much better it was from my EGA F-19. Buy this game. It was from the era when Microprose was, actually, "The Name of The Game".

Finally a reason to dust of my joystick

Wow, this game really brings back memories. F-15 Strike Eagle II and III are still my all time favorites of the old MicroProse flight sims, but this one ranks right up there. Hope to see this trend continue with many of the other classic Microprose games...Red Storm Rising, M1 Tank Platoon, Fleet Defender, Gunship...
