F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0

As a child of the early 80's, I was definitely too young to really understand all the mechanics of the game. I do remember having a blast playing it at low difficulty settings and bombing the crap out of stuff. Now that I'm pushing 40 and actually understand the mechanics of the flight sim, radars, enemy fighters and SAM sites this game is a ton of fun and really tense. I would love a modern graphics remake with the same basic gameplay. I know DCS world is a thing but this would be in a world of it's own.

Changing between the two main planes available to you, and changing realism options, make this flight simulator from relative complicated to a notch above more complicated than the first 2 Strike Eagle games. That is, very simple to play. In terms of difficulty, it varies again as to what you choose in the settings, from relatively hard to very easy. It's not the hardest hardcore flight simulator out there even with most options to ON, and that is down to the actual plane(s) you are flying. If you do what you are supposed to, you will not even have to avoid any missiles or guns. That's what the way of flying this plane (F-117A). You avoid radars (you can detect them and their range in one of the HUDs), you make sure to go in silently, release weapons (or take photos), and silenty return back home safe. When done correctly it's BEAUTIFUL. Do not forget, this is not a fighter or a fighter bomber. You are not supposed to fight other planes. In fact you can't even fight them if you are not flying the F-19 (ie the fantasy plane). Lots of procedural generated campaigns, a ton of options and one of the most interesting flight simulator of the 90's. It feels so good when you complete a mission without being detected. Great game.

This game is the absolute paragon of sim suspence, from the time when sim developers still remembered they are making games for people to play, not glorified engine startup procedure manuals. Buy it.

Although the realism in this sim/game is limited by it's time, this game is still great. This game is a lot of fun to play. Different types of objectives, targets mixed with locations allow for an everlasting fun experience. You will never fly the same mission twice. You can fly low and slow at 300' and avoid detection and not get a single radar spike al the way home. Or, you could swap your anti-air missiles for some fuel tanks and fly full throttle at max altitude. Drop your bombs and make a run for it while SA-5 SAMs and Su-27s try to catch up with you. This game is quite complex in nature. There are many aircrafts, friendly and foe. Radar is modeled quite complexly both in SAMs and in enemy jets. There are many payloads ot choose from, choose wisely. GOG recently released a patch for this game that adds voice overs in a few occasions. The manual accompanied by this game is the best I have seen on a DOS game. The pdf Image scans are high quality and all text is searchable and chapters make it easy to jump around the pdf. TL;DR: great game, great fun, great manual

I still have the original packaging this came in. A big book with loads and loads of information and multiple keyboard covers (for different kind of keyboards!) so you'd know which button to press. I was only a child when I played this so I don't recall I was really good a this. But I enjoyed it none the less! Don't think I've ever played another game that came with a more comprehensive book.
