Description

The version of the game sold on GOG is a single-player only edition – it means online and LAN modes are not accessible.

As a member of the strange secret society E.Y.E, you wake up after a fight in which your fellow teammates were killed. E.Y.E, an armed branch of the Secreta Secretorum is attempting a coup against the all-powerful Federation, a coalition of several worlds and planets that rule with an iron fist.
To complicate matters, E.Y.E itself is plagued with its own internal conflicts between the Jian faction and the Culter faction, to which you belong. Your loyalties are torn between Commander Rimanah, your superior and the chief of the Secreta who is a separatist with an unstoppable ambition, and the "Mentor" your friend and instructor. The "Mentor" tries at all costs to unite the two rival factions. In doing so, you are thrust into the middle of a fratricidal war frought with political conspiracies and quests for power in which different groups and megacorporations are implicated.
These troubles set the stage for an attack by an unknown force bent on destroying humankind.

Key features:

  • Psychological and mental trauma management.
  • 25 weapons, different shooting modes, dynamic precision, drilling shots, iron sighting, extended zoom.
  • Complete hacking system with game play impact

Parallel universe- I think

Play this not for the moment but for the slow investment of time over multiples of moments and then you have to ask yourself one thing... these developers are not of planet earth. Peace, my friends.

Great atmosphere

The game is clunky, but something about it hits just right.

One of those things...

Own it on steam, have dozens of hours. 100+ lvl character for the hell of it. Had to beat the game, multiple times, to get there... and then found out the developers included that as an expectation of the players & story. The short version: you have a cyberpunk world mixed with warhammer 40k. For lack of better terms, it's during the dark age of technology when bullets still mattered and humanity never met xenos. You can install cybernetics that break physics, buy weapons that could instakill grizzly bears (there is a handgun called the bearkiller), and get mind powers that let you teleport into some NPC where they explode and you take their place in a gruesome, fatal teleportation ritual. You can hack people into an aneurysm. Or go co-op and do all of this to each other for funsies. Long Version: Okay, so, here's the jist of the RL devs existence. Some mod makers got a job. The dropped their 40k headcanon into a game and had to meet deadlines. That is literally it. You will notice it once you start playing. They got another job after this, making another 40k game you don't know about. This is the one you want to play, though. They added their headcanon to this game in a way that's both interesting and fun. If you want to experience the full game, and get all its powers, you have to beat it at least 3 times in esoteric ways each time. This is addition to knowing how to either speak french, or know how to install the community translation patch (which is still cryptic because the script is still pretty bad if you want to understand anything.) Regardless of any of this, the game does way more than a lot of others. Every level can be returned to with random objectives, you can earn everything in time, new game + has a reason to exist in the storyline, and you can co-op it from start to finish because everything is basically a glorified MP server. Get it and the community translation patch. It's just one of those things. also: "You'll earn brouzouf."

Passable shooter/simplistic missions

Playing this in 2024, my experiences with this game after 13 hours were: this is a mission-based shooter with really simplsitic missions. The RPG progression is glacially slow. I'm writing this for people who aren't completionists, and I would say 13 hours is more than enough to inform a purchase decision. The shooting part: good. The RPG mechanics: several systems (skill points ala fallout in categories like hacking and shooting), cybernetic upgrade (e.g. regain stamina faster, faster sprint) and research (e.g. armor more efficient). It's all done through a single resource. However, this is a long-term commitment. At the end of the game my best stat was shooting at 54 (out of 100?), the rest in the 30s and mid 40s, aka basically starting level. I didn't do all the side missions (see missions below) but the ones I did gave unsatisfyingly little reward. The story: cryptically told but easy enough to figure out. Didn't keep me playing. Structure: it is important to understand that this is nothing like your average RPG. There is no real interaction with the environment, and it is structured more like a map-based MMO. You get sent to a map and given a set of quests. Then you free-roam until everything is done. You might stumble upon NPCs from time to time, but these are side-quest triggers or alternate ways of completing a mission. The maps are basically combat arenas and you go around shooting people and pressing buttons. They are also vey thinly populated, with large distances to cover, like an MMO map, only with less stuff in it. Enemies respawn (like in an MMO, can be adjusted in settings). Overall, an unengaging world with respawning enemies, no engaging quests and but good gunplay. It might get better at higher levels but honestly, after arriving in a map that seems to be the climactic battle and being a) underleveled [not that the game tells you that] and b) being spawn-killed over and over, I think I'll just go play Mass Effect instead.
