Description

The version of the game sold on GOG is a single-player only edition – it means online and LAN modes are not accessible.

As a member of the strange secret society E.Y.E, you wake up after a fight in which your fellow teammates were killed. E.Y.E, an armed branch of the Secreta Secretorum is attempting a coup against the all-powerful Federation, a coalition of several worlds and planets that rule with an iron fist.
To complicate matters, E.Y.E itself is plagued with its own internal conflicts between the Jian faction and the Culter faction, to which you belong. Your loyalties are torn between Commander Rimanah, your superior and the chief of the Secreta who is a separatist with an unstoppable ambition, and the "Mentor" your friend and instructor. The "Mentor" tries at all costs to unite the two rival factions. In doing so, you are thrust into the middle of a fratricidal war frought with political conspiracies and quests for power in which different groups and megacorporations are implicated.
These troubles set the stage for an attack by an unknown force bent on destroying humankind.

Key features:

  • Psychological and mental trauma management.

Bright, Brilliant, Imperfect.

I won't try to explain what EYE 'is', many more talented people than me have wasted many more words than I can spare here on that. Instead, I'll be focussing on something that I think isn't quite discussed enough: the experience of EYE. In short: tactical shooting, dream logic and atmosphere. The first cycle mostly consists of slowly crawling through enormous open delapitated spaces constantly scanning the architecture ahead knowing that noticing a sniper ever only a few seconds too late will cost you your life (death has permanent consequences, though minor). This is punctuated with small intense skirmishes, rarely winnable in a straight-up fight, either peeking corners, or using a collection of unlocked special powers. A lot of running away, reloading, healing, praying that you're back up in fighting shape before the enemy finds you, meanwhile the cracks in the framing narative are starting to show. During the first cycle it mostly adds to the atmosphere, as you truly don't know what even can be around any given corner. On the second cycle however you will have started out-leveling the difficulty curve, at the very least you will already know most sniper positions. So as the levels shrink considerably, and combat becomes a breeze, you suddenly have the time and energy left over to engage with the weirder elements of the world. You start talking to people. You start discussing philosophy with people. You start noticing the imagery in the level design. You start to piece together why there is a giant statue of your dead wife in a cathedral halfway through renovation which is being advertised as a strip club. Or, of course, why there isn't. I too should touch upon the jank. Yes. there's jank. The jank runs deep. I never had technical problems of any kind, but the game wasn't build to make sense to absolutely everyone. Some parts just only make sense to the guys who build it (looking at you wave-defense section halfway through claustrophobic exploration).

Cyberpunk done properly

Even after many reviewers and critics have explained it this remains one of the most misunderstood games. The incomprehensibility and roughness-around-the-edges was deliberate, and as you approach the real ending it becomes clear that the writing isn't badly-translated or nonsense - it's actual, literary, cyberpunk. Everything is meta. By the second level, the layout of the level is quoting Ghost in the Shell - and thereafter nearly everything is drawn in from other films, literature, or games. It has both solid Player versus Environment and Player versus Player, but really this game is Player versus Culture. The story isn't the surface-level schtick about a cyberpunk assassin regaining his memory but pure postmodernism, asking: has Cyberpunk become a product? The early game is most enjoyable, when the character is not yet upgraded and must approach each punk gang with care and correctly selected weapons. This game has been surpassed by other titles for gunplay but it's extremely solid with nicely-implemented weapons. And also reasonably balanced for multiplayer if you can find a game or set up with friends over LAN. Once the character is fully upgraded, probably you won't be playing a first-person-shooter any longer, but by then be immersed in the spiritual nullification of waves of monotonous Doom-clones that have plagued the genre, and which are represented here within it. It becomes trance-like, with enemy waves recognized and precisely neutralized, via muscle-memory, whilst some meta-objective is achieved to shed more light on the game's real meaning. With a completionist approach, the real ending becomes a life-experience. It's set up as a revelation - perhaps similar to the ending of Holy Mountain - and not only does it pull it off, it's arguably more powerful since it's interactive.

Much more than meme fodder.

There is a legit fun game here that, yes, does take a long time to really understand but it's ultimately a plain old Source shooter with a trippy setting, upgrades and a wonky translation. Take your time, do NOT look at min/max build guilds and just experience it. Whatever you do though, do NOT TURN OFF AUTO-LEVELING in the character menu if you decide to play that way. You will lose all the experience up to that point and have an empty shell character with a level but nothing to show for it.

E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy

Hi, Eye Div Cyber, is a unique FPS and worlds to explore and complete missions. Campaign missions, Temple HQ, Secondary missions let's you choose from maps. Lots of options and the norm rebindable keys and much more. Cyber control menu, PSI forces available, Control drones, Hack menu, Inventory screen, Skills to increase, cyber implants, research screen, stats screen, flashlight key, weapon fire mode rate change, head bobbing on or off, choose enemy reinforcements limit + difficulty, objective icons. Dual weapons, swords, pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, allows a sword + pistol in each hand, dual swords, dual pistols, sniper, drop drones for defence. Menu system is a little outdated being the same colors but one would wish a version 2 of this extraordinary title beyond this world. Drones attack, various enemies to battle. Collect items from the slain. Full screen or windowed, high resolutions. Superb eerie sounds + sound effects + music, NPC's chatter. Allows music to be off. Allows voices to be off. Excellent FPS, Unique beyond this world.

Master the Jank become a badass!

This game is a wonderful, janky mess. It requires paitence but once you master it, you will play a game were you can do what you want. want to hack an enemy and have him attack his allies, run and jump like technoninja slashing machine, be a heavy tank with a giant gun, be a sniper who kills people from afar, or be a psi power god that kills people with your mind. You can do all of these things. but you have to deal with jank and probably watch youtube vids to wrap your around it. Warning: This game is not for everyone but for those who can see pass the jank, it's a masterpiece.
