As the leader of the expedition, you will face difficult decisions about the use of your troops and your resources, as well as how to engage with the factions of the savage New World. Will you defy history and be a diplomatic envoy of peace? Or will you be a ruthless conqueror determined to lay all of the Aztec Empire at your feet?

Expeditions: Conquistador is a tactical roleplaying game with a touch of strategic resource management and a pinch of choose-your-own-adventure. Conquistador is set in a rarely visited part of history which is rife with mystery, political intrigue, and good old-fashioned violence.

  • Exotic historical setting with far-reaching ethical implications - balance your relations with the natives against the wishes of your expedition members.
  • Intuitive and flexible turn-based combat system with highly varied and detailed battlefields that will keep you on your toes.
  • Manage the morale, rations, and resources of your expedition as you overcome the dangers of the Aztec territories.

love it...need more games like this!!!

ppl who rate and comment without even playing the game, are bad ppl, ...mmkay ??? :-) ...played only for a little over an hour. there's alot more to the game...ill only explain the basics: you start by choosing a leader, add some points to his/her skills and create a team(depending on your style of gameplay). from soldiers to doctors, hunters and a couple more type of units. ...you run around on a map that is unknown to you and you find new locations by exploring the map. but you have limited amount of moves. once you're done, you must camp(decide who goes to hunt, who stay guard the camp, healing and food ratio...) ...the fighting is turn-based...and very fun too..you can switch from close-combat and range...heal your units(if have a doc/healer)...and so on. ...there's really nothing bad i have to say about the game. a bigger map would be better(personal opinion, i always ask for bigger maps lol) hopefully there will be mods for this game...cause i could spend lots of time playing this :) ...all in all, im happy with this game...and 20$ for this, i think its a perfect price.

Fallout + Colonization!

Great game! It is a wonderful mixture between several games : - Fallout 1 or 2, for the turn based combats, and the RPG elements (which are simple, but still, nice), and the freedom we have when traveling - Colonization for the atmosphere of conquistadores, the negociation with the natives, the exploration of lost cities...etc. At the end, we have a great game, with almost no defaults. The only very small frustration I had was the lack of choice of a portrait when we choose our main character (one portrait if you're male, one if you're a female, and that's it). Except that, it works perfectly, with many original ideas (the fact of managing each camp, by deciding who guards, who patrols, who hunts...Etc, the possibility to develop an outpost in the mainland, all the original stories of each companion...Etc). It's sad to think that this game, because it's not backed by a huge company, won't have the success of a Baldur's Gate, because, imho, it is as good, and even better (there you don't start your adventure by chasing rats in a cave ;)). So, to sum up : a must have!

High quality indie game

The first thing that impress in this game is the quality of the presentation: graphics, cutscenes, scripting is masterfully crafted. As soon as you start playing, you are forced to make some moral and ethical choices: what kind of party do you want? A war-bringing, religious zealots one? A bunch of humanist scholars? Gameplay is in the vein of Heroes of Might&Magic, with just one hero and more fixed quests. The quests are varied, with some moral depth despite most of them inevitably end with a field battle. Levelling up is the best part of the game. Your comrades learn new skills, get promoted and get better at their duties, sometimes they have personal urges or quests that you should address. Ok, now for the shortcomings. Troop management is too watered down: you have generic "equipment", and you assign it for a small increase in attack or defence. Individual equipment pieces would have been better. Healing: the healing system works well, but lacks the option to cure a wounded member while staying in town. Tactical choices have only a small effect on gameplay. Luck plays a great part with hunters. Worst of all, the story is fixed: the main quests will be always the same. I'd have loved an "open world" concept. Overall, the game is great, with all his details, accuracy and depth. Unfortunately the main part of the game -the battles- could use some improvements. Nevertheless, an interesting and thought-provoking game.

Excellent Value - Lots of promise

So I had leave for 3 weeks and at the time there was a gaming drought... In my desperation I grabbed a copy of this, expecting very little in the way of entertainment hoping just to kill a few hours. Wow, what a surprise! The depth and replay value of this game are amazing for an indie development, not to mention the potential for expansion. The charecters are not just simple placeholders they have a back story and throughout the game you get to know them more and more, becoming attached to your conquerers (?). Combat appears simplisitc but there are a number of classes and skills to make tactics interesting. Graphics are on par with todays strategy games (bar total war series but when you have a budget as high as the sky...) and the story is enough to keep you interested with dips and turns along the way. Overall I would highly recommend this game to strategy buffs, historians and roleplaying enthusiasts. My only gripe at the moment is the AI is a little bit dodgy, something which can be patched no doubt, but sometimes they do some stupid things, that and i would also like the ability to increse the accuracy of ranged weapons without promotion. Minor gripes really.

Suprisingly great

To be honest, i didn't expect much going into this game, previous experiences with this type of game almost always ended with me asking myself why i bought it. This game ,however, isn't one of those. The combat, writing and music are all great, much better than i've seen in some of the more recent entries in the strategy genre. i have one complaint though, when i started the game it asked me to create my character and make my party without knowing which stat is actually important. but overal the game is great fun, while i was playing it, it's like someone was fastforwarding time at x100 speed Great job!
