Description
Exiled Kingdoms is a single-player Action-RPG that allows you to roam freely through a unique world, full with surprises and adventure. It is an isometric game, inspired by the classics in many ways: a challenging environment to explore, choices with consequences, and a simple but versatile rulesystem enabling endless ways to develop your character. Each of your character stats will make a difference, and the world is highly reactive; new conversation options might be enabled with high intelligence, or vary depending of your standing with the many factions or your previous actions.

Explore a vast world: no one will point you to the best hidden secrets in the 135 areas. Talk to over 300 NPCs with unique dialogues, and solve 90 quests ranging from the "stereotypical" menial tasks in early levels, to epic-scale plots full with twists and hard choices. Customize your character with 70 skills and hundreds of different items. Overcome all kind of monsters and antagonists, choosing carefully the weapons or powers for each encounter if you want to have a chance. And return to the classical dungeon crawl, with traps and secret doors, and death awaiting the unwary adventurer behind every corner.

Exiled Kingdoms is a huge game, with content hand-crafted during 4 years of development and writing. It easily counts 120+ hours of gameplay for the average player, and much more taking into account replayability.

Story introduction: A dark tale, and a brave new world

A century ago, the Andorian Empire was destroyed by a magical cataclysm that brought The Horrors into our world; humanity was nearly annihilated. Many thousand managed to escape sailing away to the Imperial Colony of Varannar: a savage island, dangerous and unexplored. Mistrust and blame made impossible to elect a new Emperor, and the four Exiled Kingdoms were proclaimed.

Nowadays, the ragtag kingdoms still struggle to survive in a harsh land, often waging war on each other and slowly declining into barbarism. Empire and the Horrors are, for many, just old legends and fairytales. But as a novice adventurer you rarely pay attention to such old stories; you're more concerned with your latest misfortunes and chronically empty purse.

But for once, luck seems to be on your side. A magical letter from New Garand materialized in your hands; it states that you are the sole beneficiary of a big inheritance. You don’t remember any relatives in the capital of the Kingdom of Varsilia, but certainly that won’t stop you from an opportunity like this! The road to New Garand will reveal many surprises, and will teach you that fairytales and legends can become, in fact, very real.

Engrossing but Punishing

This game is great. I've put in many hours & the story so far is good, it has twists and turns, it keeps me wanting to progress forward. However I'd highly highly & I mean highly recommend going casual so you can quicksave in dungeons unless you're a real masochist or hardcore gamer b/c you'll get you __ handed to you on the regular in dungeons. That is a fact. I spent 4+ hours in one *area* of a single dungeon trying to take out an Orc king and in the end I got bodychecked into a cloud of poison smoke w/ nothing more to show for it for my troubles. You can't change difficulty once you start so I'm trying to save you a lot of wasted time, it's too late for me. I found a nice place above ground w/ some bears and moster spiders in new anthur bay to grind my days away hoping eventually to level up enough to brave some of the trickier dungeons. Another tip is make sure you have back up saves, relatively recent ones, if you accidentally leave or enter a dungeon with low health you can bet bottom dollar you'll meet respawned enemies all up in your business right at the entrance and good luck scrambling away before they kill you immediately. The world is huge I've been playing for weeks and I doubt I've seen 25% of the total map, and that's just above ground I'm talking about. Keep a few scrolls of recall handy at all times b/c another thing you can bank on if you fashion yourself an explorer across the lands is you'll get tuned up real nice in a hurry by some new enemy that's 4 levels higher suddenly than anything on the previous map. All that said the game keeps me coming back because it's fun and the world is compelling. The writing even w/ your average NPC is quite good, in many ways it reminds me of Baldur's gate 1 & 2. I've heard it compared to Diablo but to me this game has more heart and is not an arpg although there is plently of battling enemies. The graphics are nothing special but are serviceable & better than some suggest, w/ great variety of enemies.

Great for an indie game

As far as an indie game goes, pretty good. It feels weird tho. Like, casting spells, everything feels clunky. Like monsters randomly respawning, the loading function making monsters appear that you just recently killed. The magic doesn't hit its mark, also the graphics feel like it's a game from new grounds, or something like that. It's not my cup of tea, but effort was put into it so I can't give it a lower score that 3 stars. I hope that's alright.

Sometimes less is more!

I don't understand all of the positive reviews. I admit that there is hardly such an open, large and loving role-playing world in so-called indie games. The humor is great, the quests are mostly not boring and there are a lot of things to experience. It almost seems as if this game wants to be a really big one. However, it is also the problem of the game. In addition, it unfortunately appears unfinished. I've been role-playing for about 25 years. I especially love games like Baldur's Gate. But I also played the Elderscrolls series from the start and the Darksouls series. I don't mind if a game is demanding, but everything has to be in proportion. For example, I played the Darksouls series without help and offline. This also seems difficult at first, but it isn't because you can proceed cautiously and a lot of tactics are offered. Even farming is fun because the fighting is right. And that is exactly not the case here. I have now played this game three times (twice as a cleric, once as a magician) on the easiest level of difficulty and with companions! Still, it's often frustrating. Especially because the control can no longer give with this type of engine. As a cleric, the frustration factor wasn't that high, more towards the end. As a magician, the frustration factor is enormous. Because the magician is a ranged fighter. And it's horrific when you laboriously try to pull individual opponents out of groups of opponents. You can give orders to your companion, but they are only of limited use. The quests of the Mages Guild (to gain entry) are spread out in such a way that you have actually already completed 80% of the game by the time you are finally granted entry. People and buildings give the impression that something is still to come or that one would gain access. But nothing is like that. somehow unfinished. And when do the extended areas of the map appear? Sometimes less is more!

Previous experience on android, full licence

It was a revelation to find it and to play on tablet, back to android years ago. IT IS NOT an ordinary game, it's a real gem, kind of hard, it requires time to grind and succed in battle, you have to be focused, this is not a game to kill time in a waiting room. I would like to feel the magic on PC but I'm gonna wait sale discount, because I have already boght this one once in full licence on android. As you can see English is not my native mothertongue, but it's my favorite cup of tea as second language, I'm trying hard, pinky swear.

Playing this on mobile

Janky on looks and feel this still grew on me, and faster than I care to admit. The lack of detail with these old graphics is it's own... Atmosphere may not be the right word, but that's what I have and the writing is good. Not regretting buying it. Note: I haven't finished it, working my way through it as a wizard for the first time.
