EVERSPACE 2 puts you in the pilot seat in this fast-paced single-player space shooter, where vicious encounters and brutal challenges stand between you and that next epic loot drop. Explore the war-torn star systems of the Demilitarized Zone of Cluster 34—each massive handcrafted area is packed with secrets, puzzles, and perils to encounter.

Experience a thrilling sci-fi story following Adam, a clone pilot seeking his place in the universe. The events of his past tangle with clashing factions as the DMZ approaches a boiling point. Escape colonial capture, navigate the intrigues of local warlords, evade energy-maddened cultists, and fend off war-hungry aliens.

Adam will need more than wits, luck, and skill to survive—gather a team of experts to achieve his payday and finally achieve his dream of escaping the DMZ. Meet old friends and new allies, each with their own stories to tell. They will join you during missions, provide upgradable perks, unlock new abilities, and aid your path forward.

— EMBARK ON AN EXCITING JOURNEY —

Discover alien species, unveil mysteries, find hidden treasures, and defend your cargo against outlaw gangs in an exciting 30-hour campaign. Completionists can dive deep into the EVERSPACE universe and spend more than 90 hours to complete every side mission, finish every challenge, and discover every hidden secret.

— LET THE LASERS DO THE TALKING —

Annihilate your foes the EVERSPACE way. Dodge, dash, roll, and boost guns blazing into frantic dogfights, leaving a trail of space scrap behind. Use a wide range of weaponry and abilities to defeat drones, fighters, heavy bombers, and powerful gunships. But don’t get cocky! Massive capital vessels and ancient guardians will push the skills of even the most experienced pilots. Use your environment to your advantage, and gain the upper hand against greater numbers.

— EXPLORE THE GALAXY —

Enter the EVERSPACE universe and explore it at your leisure. The DMZ and surrounding areas of Cluster 34 are brimming with main and side missions, activities, events, and secrets to be uncovered. Fire up your hyperdrive to discover more than 100 unique, handcrafted locations spread across seven distinct star systems and shape your legacy among the stars.

— HAVE IT YOUR WAY —

Expand your private ship collection from a virtually endless supply of fighters composed of unique classes to optimize your build to perfection. For a price, traders throughout the cluster will help you acquire improved models or send your current ship off for storage as you try a new ship type. Cleverly combine modules, weapons, devices, and perks to fit your individual playstyle and the current mission.

— SEEK OUT SECRETS —

Clever pilots are successful pilots. Loot outlaw caches, salvageable wrecks, and ancient hidden treasures scattered throughout every explorable area of the DMZ. Search structures, solve puzzles, blow up asteroids, and restore ruins to hunt down every one of these treasures.

— EPIC LOOT AWAITS —

Hunt for improved gear to expand your arsenal of powerful equipment combinations. Look for loot that fits your playstyle, but be willing to leave your comfort zone and try something new. Be ready to find and exploit synergistic effects between equipment, perks, devices, and ships to fully maximize their potential.

— LET THE HUNT BEGIN —

Completing EVERSPACE 2’s extensive campaign is not the end! Engage in high-octane endgame High-Risk Areas and Ancient Rifts that allow you to push your build and luck to the limit against progressively harder enemies. Succeed in a run to acquire legendary gear that holds immense power and extraordinary abilities.

All the good from the first , less bad.

NOTE: This review is of the initial Early Access build. This Early Access was delayed by five months due to not wanting to overlap with the various Cyberpunk 2077 release dates, so it's way more polished than you would expect. Still just about the prettiest space game I've yet played, but the overall look is brighter and boxier than Everspace 1. Some of the textures are obviously still placeholders. In order to simulate contiguous space in Unreal Engine 4, space is broken into sectors that are like oversized hand-crafted levels from ES1, with Hyperspace as its own level. It runs about the same on my system as the original, albeit a little choppier in indoor environments. My two biggest complaints from ES1 are addressed. Weapons and Afterburner burn separate energy stores, and I have yet to run into any music that uses a wah pedal. Unlike the Rogue-Legacy unlock model of the first game, this functions more like an RPG with XP, character stats, equipment mods, and a party of support characters who unlock abilities and services as you solve their relationship quests. It's pretty much more Everspace, just a little bit better so far, and that's all I could ask for. Positive!

It wastes your time intentionally

I loved the first game, it was an unique roguelike that kept me playing even after I finished it to get the true ending. I always wanted to do another run. It was filled with combat and tension. There was the occasional rewarding puzzle here and there. Overall, a very well-paced game. The only downside was some very childish dialogue and the protagonist was a naive, generic goody two-shoes, but the gameplay more than made up for it. In the second game, which is an RPG and not a roguelike, I think the developers tried to provide players with a lot of "content" so players felt they're getting their money's worth. Problem is, most of this content is mind-numbing filler or literally doing nothing on auto-pilot for over a minute to get from one area to the next while staring at the screen. The fun part of the game is fighting and looting, but they force you to do endless puzzles with little or no reward when you could be fighting other ships and get that loot more than 10 times faster. Even if you figure a puzzle out in 10 seconds, it will take you 5 minutes to complete it because you gotta fly dozens of kilometers to put the pieces in their place. There are sections of the game where you do puzzles for 20-30 minutes and fight for 1-2 minutes in-between them and it just feels horrible and all you're thinking is "can I get back to the fun part already?!" I'd much rather have a shorter and more concentrated game than forced puzzles in every story mission to pad out the game time. How many times do you think I'll have fun escaping from a cave, devs?! The good: - Nice ship variety - Fun combat The bad: - The endless puzzles with crap or no rewards - Very long travel times, fast travel between systems unlocks when you're almost at the end. Dafuq? - No gravity on planet surfaces, things just float, breaks immersion - Childish dialogue, boring and inconsistent story - Using small, agile ships is impractical until much later because of the very small inventory space

Great Evolution!

I've ALWAYS wanted an Everspace universe that I could have the freedom to explore. We got it! It's sort of a linear RPG with ship and perk customization and crafting. Seems to be all quest based. Can't really make decisions and the dialog is automatic but this doesn't bother me at all. Games that allow you to make a decision or two always end up in the same place anyway! The story is good. I'm pretty early on but I am really liking it. The voice acting is okay. The visuals are great but I can't run it on Epic. I have an old GTX970 and I run it at 1080/Med and it's super smooth. I can tell they are still polishing up some things but I am having a lot of fun. Something that would be a nice addition would be to allow me to disable loot from showing up in the scanner so I can hunt for it myself more. Make me work for it. There's some puzzle type things now. Not that easy all the time either. Great addition! Rockfish have proven themselves in the past to be a great dev team. I am standing by them on this one as well. This universe could be huge with lots and lots to do in the future. Lots of potential! I think If you liked the first game and you wanted to explore the universe more you would like this!

Exciting and beautiful looter-shooter!

Been waiting a long time for this game and it is NOT letting me down. Clean fun gameplay with beautiful effects and locations. Controls(on keyboard/mouse) are intuitive. The story is on rails, there is no decision making to be had except with gear/upgrades and build theory, which it has in spades. Only thing I feel it's missing is consequences for freeform murder/piracy in it's open-world format. Lastly the only issue I have had is with controller support, which is regretful. I really enjoyed playing the first game on controller and was looking forward to it here, but it just doesn't work well at all for me. Your experience may be different and my fingers are crossed someday it will be patched/fixed. -0.5 for controller issues Overall a d 4.5 * game IMO. Really enjoying it! Well done ROCKFISH Games.

A space fighting sim that's actually fun

The tutorial is pretty good and not hokie like some of them are. You feel like you're actually moving in a story as the game teaches you how to play. It's early access but it's playable now and fun RIGHT NOW. Do yourself a favor and get it.
