Difficulty increases far too fast

I tried this on a friend's computer. After making 30 or so runs, the difficulty curve far surpasses the ship's improvement. For example, as soon as you get close to having $5000 credits or get into sector 4, the game starts sending in interceptors and capital ships. Needless to say, you're wiped out in a few seconds and have to start over again. This is a constant, so there is no point in trying to play anymore. I'm glad i got to try the game on a friend's computer first, as I will definitely NOT buy this one.

Lacks the synergy of a good rogue-lite

I gave it a good try, I got to the 4th sector (of 7 I think), but I uninstalled the game in frustration. Dying is what allows you to spend your credits on upgrades, as well as what makes your blueprints and special items available for subsequent runs. Each sector is a little harder than the previous sector, there’s no RNG about it, and if you don’t die you can’t progress. No matter how good you get at the combat, you can’t finish a run without dying multiple times. This, I think, is what makes the game unsatisfying. There are a few other things, like how dialog with my ship AI and combat with other NPCs would sometimes overlap; the exclamation mark next to a new codex entry stopped going away when I read the entry; and the squad of alien ships that arrives after a few minutes, forcing you to move to the next node on the map. It’s too bad, because there were some stretches during my 16 hours there that were fun and intense.

Not worth a buy...

I was expecting a game like Freelancer. But unfortunately it´s very far away from this masterpiece. It´s just flying arround, shooting enemies and visiting space stations. In every sector it´s nearly the same, no real story comes with this game. Enemies are mostly muc stronger due to flying in groups. If you want a REAL space sim, buy the good old Freelancer.

Its okay...should have liked it more

This is a game I should have really liked. Its like Rogue Legacy in space - and I like Rogue Legacy, And the game is visually beautiful and the fights are pretty good. But I just could not get into it. I can't really say what turned me off of it, but I would play one game, die, and then not want to play again. Whereas with Rogue Legacy, I would die and want to get right back in to play "just one more time." I think for me the action is just not addicting enough, or I don't feel I make much of any progress after each game. Maybe if they increased how often credits dropped but then decreased their value, then I would want to go back in to get more. Plus you lose the credits you don't spend so it makes you want to spend everything instead of saving up for one big thing that I really want. So, again, that slows progression too much for me.

Shallow Rogue-lite

If you go into this looking for something like Freelancer, you'll be disappointed. Arcade action, and it's a roguelike, but without much depth. It's pretty, but feels shallow and empty. Other roguelikes that build on top of the pattern offer at least something to buffer the permadeath or advance the formula. Not here. Shoot things in arcadey outer space, die, do it again. If this sounds like your jam, go for it. It's not mine.
