A Simple Yet Captivating Story

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream really surprised me in the best way. It’s not overly complicated, which I actually appreciated. It also has no frustrating puzzles or overdesigned mechanics to get in the way. It presents mechanics and characters throughout whole game a little by little. Instead, the game puts its energy into what matters most: the story and dialogues NPC's are having when you are going through locations. The narrative is engaging and heartfelt, with characters that feel grounded and a plot that moves at a nice pace. I was drawn into the world pretty quickly, and it kept my attention the whole way through. The atmosphere is another standout. The locations are beautifully crafted and are majestic to look at. Every scene feels like a place you could walk through, which makes it immersive and gives it certain charm. If you're looking for a relaxed, story-focused experience with lovely visuals and a strong sense of place, Eriksholm is definitely worth your time.

I had fun!

Quite alright game. Was enjoyable to play through. Story was good, not amazingly good but still good. World looked and felt nice and the setting overall is great too. A few minor gripes: A few of the areas, especially the behaviour of the npcs, felt very video-gamey, which is fine for the stealth-puzzle part of the game, but not that great for immersion. Occasionally some of the sections were a bit annoying, because it wasn`t quite clear how to proceed. That could have just been me though! Definitely worth it! Should probably mention that I played it on Linux and it worked fine.

atmospheric setting, nice story, fun

As stealth games go this one is more of a puzzle game, using range, skill, visibility and -last but not least- timing. Though some emergent gameplay is present, most situations seem to have a single solution. Some flexibility arrises when multiple guards are involved, and there are quite a few of those situations, but some locations have one single correct solution. The challenges are satisfying, not extremely difficult. Combined with the lush visuals, intricate world building, well written story and good voice acting, it all leads to a wonderful, fun experience. Loved eavesdropping on the guards and other NPCs, also the different behaviors of the guards were a joy to discover. Hoping for a sequel..

A true masterpiece !

We don't need a multi-billion dollars budget to make a good game, and this one is the proof. And it comes from nowhere ! (at least for me, since I didn't hear about it until the demo was out, and I tried it just besause I was curious about the visuels... I could have completely missed it. This is sooo refreshing to see such a game pointing out in this world saturated with boring AAA. It is brilliant in what it does, a lot of situations require patience, precision and we're "in media res" from the beginning. Stunning graphics and animations immerse ourselves in beautifully designed, yet sometimes stressful levels. Long story short, if you still hesitate, then don't. If you like stealth games, you're in for a surprise !
