I played the demo and took a chance on the full game. Best decision ever. Loved the setting, the graphics are top notch, the voice acting and dialog are far more in-depth than I expected. Enjoyable throughout.
My (minor) quibble is I'd like to have an ability to change the angle of view so I could see even more of the environments.
One of the nicest stealth games I've played in a long time. Though the difficulty level could be a bit more challenging. But a very good story and fun to play through!
Like the gameplay, the stealth mechanics, and the puzzles. I get the sense there's just a single path though - haven't found a case where there were multiple ways to solve a problem.
Story: It has an interesting story and, although its plot isn’t groundbreaking, I believe it’s well paced and keeps you wanting to know more. It also features very solid and engaging world-building that could easily be expanded in future games.
Graphics: The graphics are beautiful, especially during the cinematics. Nothing to complain about here.
Characters: The game mainly features three playable characters. With so few, you’d expect them to be very well developed. Unfortunately, Hanna—the main character—is quite annoying. Although I can relate to most of her decisions, the way she behaves and talks feels rather grating.
Sebastian is a very plain character who seems to exist mostly for gameplay purposes.
And finally, there’s Alva, by far the best character and the one who really saves the trio.
As for the voice acting, I think the performances in English are very good, though I’m not a native speaker.
Gameplay: This is probably the weakest point of the game. The mechanics are similar to those in the Commandos or Desperados series, but with fewer characters (just three in total) and fewer unique abilities (only two each). This greatly limits the gameplay. Furthermore, most enemies seem designed to be taken down—or avoided—in only one fixed way. Thas prevents you from coming up with your own solution, and as a result you lose the satisfaction of overcoming the challenge in a truly personal way, which also hurts replayability in a game that lasts about 9 hours, 1h per chapter.
The collectibles are also fairly easy to spot, and you don’t really need to deviate much (if at all) from the main path to find them.
Overall: I enjoyed the game and think it has potential. If you’re more interested in the story than in the mechanics, I believe you’ll like it. However, if you expect it to be a real replacement for one of the series I mentioned earlier, it falls quite a bit short. Still, it’s a good game for the price—especially if you can get it on discount.
