5* but going to rant about some issues
I think it's well known enough that this is a very good game. If you didn't know and some reason started with my review, go read some others first or just buy it and play it. Anyhow, despite liking this game a lot and completing everything, I'm going to rant about quite a few minor quibbles I've had with it. I have died with full health and on the final (non bonus) level not due to any enemy but... fire. I did not realize you had to repeatedly roll to remove it until I had beaten the final boss! Not being able to see the names of the guns/items on the ground is annoying. Learning what guns do what is fine*. Having to memorize their shapes is not. *Okay, always wanting to have a wiki on the side to see how much dps each gun does is kinda annoying. The bullet past boss is... bad. They make you relearn the game to play as him. Then make you unlearn it at the final battle by removing several core features. To make it worse, it's one of the longest past bosses to beat. The elevator and bounty quests are not great. You have to set aside runs just to deal with them and grind a lot. I had more than half of the bounty quests leftover when I completed everything else. If not for rainbow runs, I wouldn't have bothered with the elevator.

Addictive but Ultimately a Random Grind
Enter the Gungeon is an incredibly fun and addictive bullet-hell roguelike with engaging combat, unique enemies, and charming pixel-art graphics that are both stylish and easy to read. The game runs smoothly with very few bugs, making for a polished experience. However, after a few runs, the game devolves into a frustrating random grind. You’re forced to wade through waves of mediocre enemies repeatedly, and progression heavily depends on luck. Sometimes, you find an overpowered weapon on the first floor and breeze through the game, while other times, you’re stuck with useless junk and struggle the entire run. Boss difficulty also feels inconsistent—some are laughably easy, while others are unnecessarily frustrating. Even shop items are a gamble, with crucial gear sometimes available and other times completely useless. For the first few playthroughs, Enter the Gungeon is an absolute blast. But once you get deeper into it, the excessive randomness and grind take their toll.

A Modern Tragedy
I write this post so that future generations may come to know of but another of the 21st century's many tales of woe. It begins with a regrettable oversight of mine: forgetting to close Steam while playing *Enter the Gungeon* through another launcher. Failing to do so causes my PC to switch between recognizing my controller and my mouse and keyboard as my preferred control scheme, a well-known consequence, yet one that comes to pass again, nonetheless. Unwilling to risk facing further misfortune by way of future in-game doom, I close out this Rogue-lite mid-run to see if reopening it will resolve my technical dilemma. To my dismay, doing so leads to me uncovering a new, unspeakable truth. One that, dear reader, you likely already deciphered... I pray that fate will grant mercy to others and leave this cruel twist of it to the confines of my life alone.

Good concept questionable execution
This game is fun but is badly marred by the combination of severely limited access to the many wacky guns promised by the description combined with lack of variety and the hackneyed and outmoded design choice of not letting you save whenever you want. Playing basically the same level over and over again gets old very quickly
