Encased: A Sci-Fi Post-Apocalyptic RPG

5* actually, but -1 for current bugs. While game is definetly similar to other isometric RPGs, including modern projects, I'd like to point that it has really unique world with detailed backstory. It's like Alpha Centauri to Civilization - while having common base, it feels really different. I really enjoyed the story, graphics are really nice (maxed on i7-4710MQ + Nividia GT870M). Starting Wings are really different and get different reactions from NPCs. Some situations happen with only specific Wings. Wings and skills affect dialogue choices, and there are plenty of them. There is reputation system, but I hadn't seen any effect from it yet. I don't like the sounds... there is something annoying for me in them. Not that I had to turn them off, but can't say they're enjoyable. And... there are bugs. Can't progress story because of them (main quest stuck - tried with several characters, it just doesn't mark weapon testing as complete), some of may characters fell through the floor or got stuck behind objects. Have to wait for a few patches to continue, and that's... not good.

Whoever wants to sell DLC for an unfinished product is to completely avoid for that reason alone. No exception, no money from me, never. A pity as it looked promising.

The game isn't even close to finished yet and you're putting out DLC, really? If you need more funding you either do a Kickstarter or open for donations, adding extra paid content to a game that has yet to leave the oven is just scummy business practice and will get you bunched up with devs from the like of ARK's. WARNING: do not buy into games that do this kind of stuff, unless you're fine with cut content DLC (in which case, you're what's wrong with the industry).

If my first few hours are anything to go by, this is a solid rpg similar to wasteland 2 and 3. I even get a bit of a disco elysium style vibe from some of the visuals, but it's certainly more in the camp of the other games i mentioned. I hear the game had a bit of a bumpy development but it seems quite polished now and I look forward to giving it an intensive playthrough once i've completed another rpg i have on the go! (Yeah it's difficult to keep up these days lol, a nice problem to have though). The game is fairly cheap as well, i think it's well worth the buy.

I have to agree with Silverhals in almost everything, except the combat and stats part. 1. Stats/fatigue/hunger, thirst, etc: it's like a bullshit in this game. Travelling all day on foot won't rise your hunger and thirst meters but shooting twice make you tired? Lol. Hillarious. 2. Combat is really the weak point of this game. Even Fallout 1 was better 24 years ago. 24 years, Carl, 24 damn years! Do you hear it, dear devs? How on Earth could you make a worse combat system after 24 years?! The whole combat system is a trash. Pure and clean nonexisting shit. Learn from Wateland 2-3, Fallout 1-2-Tactics, or name any other isometric game. I have to say while I enjoyed the game's role playing aspect, the combat system made me uninstall it. Maybe, one day, in the future, once you remade the whole system from the basics, I'll install it. Shame.
