Control the destiny of a fledgling civilization through as many as 500,000 years of human history. From meagre beginnings you must exploit the natural resources around you to build an empire capable of dominating the Earth. But your rise to supremacy will not go unchallenged. As was the case throughout history, rival civilizations are certain to oppose you every step of the way.
New technologies, buildings and weapons become available as your civilization progresses through history. But bear in mind that advancement does not necessarily mean success. Your civilization might flourish during one Epoch only to be crushed in the next...

it's a bit of a hassle to get it properly playable on modern systems. Zoom Patch because otherwise the game isnt playable on high res, language patch since the game only comes in english, mouse movement has to be fixed because its weird laggy.
Opposed to what others say here AOC comes with this game but you have to start it through the Exe in Gog/games/EE Gold Edition/EE-Aoc/EE-Aoc.exe, because Gog only lauches the base game (They're two seperate games)
EE1 is very much like Civilization, only in real time and with campaigns. Very nice campaigns, I may add. It's example of edutainment, how it should be done :) When defending against Napoleon at Waterloo, or smuggling Russian party leader under potatoes through military checkpoint, it is always fun ... and sometimes more. When I played for Britain and heard Henry 5th famous St. Crispen's Day speech, it was really wonderful moment.
Other players said much about AI, how is cunning and all and it is truth ... problems show, when you start play custom game. Because IT'S CHEATING! ... and it is doing so stupidly, that every player should be able to see it. For example resources: I started from 1st epoch and worked every colonist to the ground, to be able rise to another epoch ... only to find that AI is able to do so every time, when I did WITHOUT tapping its resources. Yes, pumpkin patches and grain fields were virgin, not one unit of food was harvested. Metals and stone were not mined, too, only to the end some peasants/drones started mined them.
And another thing: some units in the frigate/destroyer class have bonus against submarines, which will be fine ... problem is, that every unit have this bonus (also sentry towers on beaches), it doesn't matter, if it is frigate from Drake's epoch, or ultramodern Aegis class cruiser ... and it is really sad, when renaissance galleon sink your nuclear submarine with her guns. And yes, she was able to catch submarine, her speed was amazing :)
Result: Campaigns are very good and I really enjoyed them. But custom/skirmish games are only for those, who will be able to ignore issues, mentioned before. If you are not able to ignore them, buy Empire Earth II :)
P.S. EE1 had much more impressive atomic explosion, than EE2. So it's probably another point for this game :)
Game is working perfectly fine on my Win10 Pro 20H2 System. CD Key is also not required. The only thing I would like to have are the translations of the game. The english version doesn't give the same feeling as the translated version from childhood.
This game are just as great today as it where in the good old days.
A classic RTS with a great development and spectre of unites, and good game play idea.
It runs perfectly on my Win10 computer, you just have to be aware if the resolution are put above 1920x1080; you game will crash on map loading - Anything below 1920x1080 32 bit, works like a charm, but there are some technical hicups e.g. black screens and "pop out" but if you are being patient you are rewarded with a RTS civilisation.
GO BUY IT (In my opinion EE1 are better then both 2 and 3)
