Control the destiny of a fledgling civilization through as many as 500,000 years of human history. From meagre beginnings you must exploit the natural resources around you to build an empire capable of dominating the Earth. But your rise to supremacy will not go unchallenged. As was the case throughout history, rival civilizations are certain to oppose you every step of the way.

New technologies, buildings and weapons become available as your civilization progresses through history. But bear in mind that advancement does not necessarily mean success. Your civilization might flourish during one Epoch only to be crushed in the next...

An abolsute RTS classic

(Based on original CD-ROM release, not GOG version.) If you are a fan of RTS games, then this is a must-have. Enjoyable campaign. LAN play. AI is fairly amusing and relatively difficult. Voice acting is a bit funny ("cheesy") at times. Campaign and level editor. Damage calculations can be odd and unrealistic (a shot of a tank usually doesn't kill a citizen).

One of the best RTS ever played

I spent endless hours with fighting against multiple AI opponents, the scenarios, the campaings, all of them. It has a decent graphics (in it's age of course). Epic gameplay, through 12 or 13 "ages", like roman, mediaval, etc. Customizable unit strengths both nation and game level. Customizable nations. Balanced unit set, and quite many of them. Built-in, intuitive modding facility. Availibility of user made scenarios, at later stages they ment the most fun, i also made one for this game, the Peak Oil. The Empire Earth 2 was a disappointment for me, i would stick to this one, and never played with the 3rd.

The Best.

This is by far the best game period. I used to spend so many hours playing this over LAN with my brother. Building up the massive nuke army and watch the screen stay white for about a minute. Beats Age of Empires simply cause of all the ages, I loved going through them all, even if it does take abit of time. Watching my tanks roll over people horsemen armies. If you like a game where you need more then a day to sometimes finish it, then you will love it more.

Liked the scope, lacking gameplay

The game Empire Earth came out after games like Age of Empires made building empires from primitive beginnings to a more glorious age was fashionable. The scope of the game is massive, including at least 20 ages (or I think the game called them Epochs) ranging from the Stone Age to a futuristic Nano Age. All along the way you gather resources, build units, enlist heroes, build wonders, and advance your way through time. However, the game was just tedious to play. While the scope of the game was great, the AI was just too determined to hang in the game. If there was enough money for 1 town center, they'd build it and rebuild. No matter how many units you send scouring a map, it's incredibly difficult to eliminate a computer from the game. While I enjoyed the game for the most part, the game just ended up being lackluster for me. If you like RTS games that can take as long as TBS games, then Empire Earth is the game for you!

Great for Local Multiplayer

I've played Empire Earth occasionally since around 2004. I've wasted hours and hours with the random maps in single-player mode since I never hit it off with the campaign. I've also tried EE2 and EE3 a little and they just lacked something that this game has in terms of gameplay. Later on I have developed a habit of bringing this game up everytime we have a LAN party with friends. We like to take our time with building up bases and armies and our matches usually take at least 4 to 6 hours until completion with the maximum population limit and a huge random map. The original random maps created by the game have very predictable and boring patterns but there's an easy fix if you just download some random map scripts from Empire Earth Heaven. I can recommend this game for RTS game fans but the lack of zoom-out feature has started to bother me a bit more every time I play it - the view feels slightly too close. The game supports modern high resolutions but the maxed out view still shows the same amount of content as the smaller ones.
