An intimate and immersive journey

'Edengate: The Edge of Life' is a narrative-driven adventure in a post-apocalyptic setting. Players explore abandoned environments as a protagonist with no memory, uncovering the mysteries of both the world and themselves. The game excels in atmosphere, with good visuals and a haunting soundtrack. The gameplay revolves around exploration and easy puzzles ("walking similator"). The story delves into themes of loss, memory, and human resilience. While nothing groundbreaking in gameplay, it offers an intimate, emotional, and immersive experience for fans of narrative-driven games.

Cannot Remap Keyboard Controls

I am sorry, but any game that does not allow the remapping of the keyboard controls gets 1 star. If you do not allow remapping via the game, at least give me a text file I can edit. Some of us have been playing game since before Dennis Fong, made these keys popular, causing them to be added as a default layout option in Quake. Not to mention problems for left handed players.

A story-based game with no story

Edengate is essentially an interactive visual novel. Which would be fine, except...there's no novel here. Or any semblance of a story, for that matter. You spend your time wandering around different areas of a deserted city, alternately chasing a ghost-boy and touching objects to receive flashbacks/memories. I thought these were intended to flesh-out the story and provide clues to the "mystery" you're trying to unravel, but they never coalesce into a meaningful narrative. Whether the developers/writers were being purposefully obtuse, or if they just didn't have the necessary skills to craft a decent story, this game was solidly disappointing. The only reason it managed to garner one star with me is the fact it's mercifully short (90 min to 2 hours for a single playthrough). I can't imagine the confusing, ultimately pointless slog this would have been were it any longer.

Nice little Game with a few problems.

First of all yes this is a Game from a Smal Indie Studio and is therfore not so polished like some Gamers used to be . It is short and without massive aktion. But that is not the Core base of this Game. This Game lives from the feeling of the Story alone. And it is not half bad with that. If you have couple of bugs vor a game of arround 2 Hours and you are not in the mood to destroy a 1000 Oponents but instead want something a little easy and story driven this might be the game vor you. And to be fair to the game it costs 12 euro or so the last time i checkt. The Framrate at the begining of the Game was wonky but it did improved a minute in to the Game . Soundeffects where ok i gues. The Voices where pretty good i must say. All in all i liked it. Then why 3 out of 5 Stars you ask? Well because it is an average game. The Developers did still a fine work with this game mostley. Thumbs up vor what this small Team created. Tjhe resolution is not so high but the Movements from the main character are Fine enough. Again it was a small Group ho Developt this Game. But before i give you a rest with my rambling: If you are consider to play the Game, leave the Grafic option as they are and i mean the Resolution and Windowed. Fore some reason, (at least that is what happend to me) when you change the Resolution und you are in Fullscreen modus it fuckt my Desktop so up that i could not play the Game and i could not even se the Menu options at the Start any more. The Solution? I had to delete the hole Game than search the gamefiles that sayed on the Computer ( save files and so) deleted that to had to Install the Game once more to get it properly running again. If you let this Files on the Computer and you Istall the Game you have, or at least i did have the same Proplem again. I hope this explaines why i gave the Game 3 Stars . Still a nice little Game.

Edge of Life

No story to it. Ending made no sense at all. No puzzles to solve. A waste of time.
