Description
Eador is a universe made of countless shards of land drifting in the Great Nothing. Each of the shards is a little world unto itself, with geography and denizens of its own. The power over the shards is bitterly contested by Masters, the immortal beings mortals believe to be gods.

Take the role of the mighty Master and shape the destiny of Eador! It is in your power to deliver the world from ultimate destruction – or to choke it with an iron fist of tyranny. Eador. Masters of the Broken World is a turn-based fantasy strategy game, where the decisions you make affect the world even deeper than the battles you win.

  • A balanced fusion of grand strategy, turn-based tactics, and RPG elements;
  • Boundless role playing opportunities coupled with a massive selection of stratagems and ways to wage war;
  • An intriguing, non-linear story that unfolds in a living, breathing fantasy world.

Note: This game may require additional serial key for multiplayer mode. In case it is not automatically generated in your GOG.com library (open it via website → select the game → More → Serial Keys), please reach out to our Support team.

Pre-ordering is almost always a bad idea

You'd think I'd learn not to pre-order by now. Snowbird's paltry 10% off shouldn't have enticed me to take leave of my senses. I don't want to be too hard on MotBW, as I actually do like the game. Newcomers might be understandably confused by the lower ratings, so allow me to explain: I think I speak for most existing fans when I say, early bugs aside, we like the game. The problem is, we liked the game when it was called Eador: Genesis and priced at 5.99. NEVER at ANY point (at least that I noticed) were we told that we were paying 20 bucks for Eador: Genesis again, and that seems sneaky. The HD visuals are... arguably better. Eador: Genesis may have had a simple look, but that meant it was always easy to tell at a glance what was going on. With the advent of 3D animations, the combat has slowed down a little. TL;DNR: If you're a big fan of Turn-Based Strategy, but the graphics of E:G held you back before, by all means, grab this game. If like me, you're already well into Genesis, you do not need this game. The enjoyment level between the two is balanced for me. For every improvement, there's something I miss from E;G.

Basically the same as Genesis

It really is identical to its predecessor in all aspects but the graphics. It's pretty to look at, I suppose, but I find the previous game much better because it runs faster on basically any computer, and the graphics, while somewhat primitive, do a good job at conveying what's going on in the screen This game, however, can be a bit too cluttered graphically. I'd skip this game altogether and go with its far superior predecessor.

TBS greatness

This is my first review ever. I normally don´t judge games, because it´s mostly a matter of personal taste, but i really owe this one a review. First let me say: don´t take the bad ratings too seriously! It´s just flaming about unsatisfied expectations. I never played Genesis and i don´t care if this game is just a remake. It´s a great game! It mixes all kinds of fantasy TBS games to a bowl of fun. It´s the best i´ve ever played and i know plenty of ´em. If you like fantasy TBS, get this game. You won´t be disappointed. Another thing is: there WAS a problem with saved games, because the GOG version was missing two essential files. I wrote to Snowbird support and they reacted almost instantly. After a few hours we located the problem and now the game works without any flaws. Snowbird told GOG about this problem and they fixed it almost instantly, too. So thank you Snowbird and thank you GOG for this fantastic game and the very good support. Again: this is the best fantasy TBS i know of, but as i stated in the beginning, it´s a matter of personal taste of course. If you want hundreds of heros roaming around the map, this is not your game. If you like focusing on a few heros and level them to great leaders, this will be your game to play.

Patched to excellence

Upon release Eador 2 MotBW was buggy, sure. However, subsequent post-release patches have tuned it's engine and it is now IMHO rather excellent. Better than the HOMM 6 any day!

Fun, TBS in line with HOMM

I've haven't played this as much as many here have but between Genesis and this remake I have logged about 40 hours of fun strategy gaming. For me, most similar to HOMM but I agree with BornRPM there is a different "feel" to the game that takes a bit of getting used to. Once the style becomes second nature, the game proves to have a lot of depth and character (I've only played single player). I have not been overly bothered by the bugs others have mentioned and fortunately have not had any serious crashes at all. The developers have been very responsive in working to clear up problems and once all the major "bugs" are cleared up, I will start a new campaign...but for now, I am having a great time as is. I do like the newer version for the improved graphics and variety. Mainly I like being able to save the game when I want (as much as I want). This one will be a classic...
