Challenging civ/heores hybrid

You have your one city you start with and using your hired heroes and their respective armies to invade surrounding provinces, each coming with their guards to defeat and locations to explore und plunder. Rather steep learning curve, because the only way of knowing if you stand a chance in fight, is through experience and knowledge of the different enemy units. The game gives you a vague advice, but it is absolute trash. If you get the hang of it you can have many hours of fun. Every second time i load a savegame the game crashes. Soooo...just don't get into situations that make you reload. Other from that, the game is slow, but that isn't really a bug. It just feels messy. Solid game for a sale.

Nice game

I have lots of fun playing the game, even while there are annoying bugs. If you liked the mechanics of the first part of hex based strategy (Panzer General like with take-over between maps) combined with little RPG, then give this a try, the sandbox mode is (for me) really funny. There is a lot of things that could be fixed or improved, but in fact there is a message from the developers in the game that is really interesting, if you listen. At least I can understand what the devs are saying, maybe because I'm a dev myself (not of games, but anyway). However, I can understand that they did not try to rip off the players, but they have to pay their bills and this game is not a main stream title making big money. So I have the feeling they did their best to improve the first part of the game and at least for me: This is better than the first part. My 2 cent

Very good game

I've played the game for 5 hours so far. The first thing that caught my eye that's new compared to Broken Worlds is the Pilot hero class. The pilot now allows you to fly over areas without having to attack them. Also, I've seen some new units and some monsters have been changed, e.g. the "Medusa" no longer has a bow. For beginners, this game like "Broken Worlds" is very difficult. Before I started getting any visible achievements in "broken worlds" I had to watch some how-to-play videos. Still I like the difficulty and once understood the game is fun in a very "addictive" way. One negative point is the non-intuitive interface which is why I would give it a 4 star rating, but this game is very unique in its details and deserves 5 stars imo. To understand what I mean, I'll describe a little what happens in my head when I play this game. I see a map full of adventures, creatures and stories. To enjoy this, I try to expand my kingdom just enough that my enemies can't do me any serious damage. I build fortifications and hire guards in critical territories that are regularly attacked by my enemies. After that I start exploring the areas with more than one hero and for me this is where the game rocks because exploring and finding ruins or other interesting places just feels awesome. And the music, sound, combat animations and combat mechanics are a lot of fun. The fights feel like they tell a story and in my opinion the game needs more of that. I would like to see a sequel.

Crashes often

Playing in sandbox mode, on the 5th shard and I can't play for more than 1 hour without a problem with the game. Top bugs include being unable to finish a combat (kill all enemies, but the turn will never end), Access Violation crashes when ending a turn and random hangs, where the game doesn't throw an Access Violation, it just stops responding completely.

combat from 2nd to 3rd disappoints ....

liked the series generally ....... this version suffers from too much nerfing your combat options in favor of the computer's ..... the societal ramp up is fun if you like this kind of game; figuring out which pieces go together ....... not bad for a lazy SAT afternoon diversion the 2nd entry had better combat balance .... maybe 2 1/2 ** ??
