The Dungeon Lord is back – and this time he’s serious! In Dungeons 2, fulfil the Dungeon Lord’s insatiable quest for vengeance by recruiting fearsome new monsters from all corners of the underworld in order to undertake his evil bidding. Taking over the underworld isn’t enough though – this time The Dungeon Lord will extend his dominion over the puny humans and attempt to conquer the overworld too!
Take control of the mighty Dungeon Lord and craft a network of unique and terrifying dungeons, recruit an army of fearsome creatures and command two new factions. Prepare to defend your Kingdom against those pesky heroes, go above ground to wage war on their human cities and use the ‘Hand of Terror’ to take direct control over your minions, issue commands, and even dish out a swift slap to keep them in line.
The extensive campaign story mode is packed with even more of the dark humour which made the original Dungeons a hit and is peppered with numerous references to various fantasy books, movies and TV shows. Additionally, you can test your strength in four different game modes in multiplayer for up to four players with other Dungeon Lords over LAN or online.
A Clash of Pumpkins

Dungeons 2 offers unique gameplay: In the underworld, Dungeon manager simulation, and in the overworld, tactical real-time strategy
Thanks to the ‘Hand of Terror’ you can always keep control of your subordinates and give targeted commands
Leave the darkness of the underworld, and venture to the overworld and leave the beautiful cities of the humans in ruins
Four competitive multiplayer modes for up to four players via LAN and Internet

It's pretty charming, I played it after Dungeons 3, which makes the flaws more glaring, specially in little quality of life stuff like some rts shortcuts to do chores more easily, but it's pretty charming and fun in its own right. I also like the style and the unit designs in this one more than 3, but that's the only thing I don't like more in 3
I found that Dungeons II has enough engaging content to justify its price. It's not a super challenging RTS and there's some ways that it can be imbalanced, but it does provide just enough micromanagement challenges to be interesting. The art is cohesive, and the controls are fairly intuitive. I've completed the single player campaign and received a pleasant surprise halfway through, after the tutorial levels had been finished.
Before I waffle on, I shall pass my verdict: It's an enjoyable *experience*, though it may lack some of the features hardcore gamers expect. If you enjoy stories such as The Hitchiker's Guide to The Galaxy, or The Stanley Parable, you will love this game because of the narration and the tone; there's many game objects that are humourous and pay homage to pop culture (and to Dungeon Keeper). The DLC is /not/ necessary to enjoy the game, and adds more scenarios (and a new playable horde) at the price of 2 coffees. The game introduces new players to the previous game's story quite elegantly, and also avoids boring old players of Dungeons. It's worth the price, but is by no means a hardcore game.
However there are some small gripes I have. It can be a bit challenging at first to grab units and objects because without enabling a cursor setting, it's unclear where to hover in order to highlight the desired object. The zoom is too small for RTS of this scale, however it's enough to be playable.
In most of the scenario, you must learn to rush objectives you have the absolute minimum of sustenance to pay your horde. Your natural desire is to turtle and build a massive and interesting labrynth, but this will not be possible in the scenarios, and is not always easy in multiplayer. Picture this as an RTS for players who want fast games instead of sprawling empires.
Though lacking the Converted Heroes and First Person Possession, Dungeons 2 recaptures the feel of playing Dungeon Keeper 2 quite nicely. You are allowed to progress at your own pace, methodically carving out dungeons as you desire, filling corridors with traps and improving your minions.
You but creatures instead of them arriving on their own, and there are fewer initial creatures to work with, but as you upgrade your Throne Room they can all be trained into variations, so four creature types becomes twelve and all variations are useful.
The Overworld Map works a like a Real Time Strategy game, similar to Warcraft 3 only all of the production takes place in the Underground. The Campaign is comical, well paced (as in it lets you move at your own pace, as any Dungeon Keeper successor should) and full of Easter Eggs and references. There are a few missions with special conditions, which are entirely optional, that add challenge and replay value without twisting the players arm with an arbitrary game over state.
Dungeons 3 should have stuck to the formula, it was a winner.
