Dungeon Keeper™ 2

This game is probably my all-time favorite, and I've played it considerably back in the day. When playing the GoG version though, I've noticed differences between the gameplay from the version I played back then. In this version it is not possible to draft the strongest creatures in the later levels, as well as the weakest creatures. It is not impossible to win the game without these, but it takes away a lot of the fun I remember. After some searching I discovered that this is a known issue with the GoG version of the game, because GoG doesn't use the latest version of the game, which had thesame bugs back in the day. It's not that hard for me to fix it myself, and I did. The solution was to install the latest 'unofficial' Dungeon Keeper 2 patch 1.8. This does corrupt your savegames however, but you can continue the campaign.

I have longed to play DK2 for a very very long time, simply because it is one of the best games ever made. At least that is my opinion... But at last I have reached a point where I simply just give up... I have tried EVERYTHING!!!!! And the game simply doesn't work. Yes, I could spend money on an older computer and an older format of windows, but that seems a little excessive. No matter what kind of good/bad advice people give me, DK2 just doesn't work on my PC. I have windows 7, 64 bit. Is there some kind of Kickstarter projekt you can sponsor, to get this game to work??? Or maybe a remake like they did with Baldurs gate.... DK2 I love you but I have to let you go... Good bye.... :-(

I have played this game once. Way back then XP was latest system. Now when I wanted to play it on my Windows 8.1 with ATI 6800 HD Series the game was totally unplayable. Thanks to gog.com I can play it again thanks to their patches. Now the graphics are looking quite good for our times. I really recommend it to everyone who likes bad guys because in this game you are being the "bad" guy.

I still have my original hard copy that still works. To get it to work on Win 7 I had to right click on the link in the start menu and pick properties and then adjust the compatibility settings as such: check "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2), check disable visual themes, check disable desktop composition, check run this program as an administrator and then click apply and then ok out. Next always start from the start menu link (or you can do the same thing to a shortcut on your desktop. I hope this helps some people to enjoy an awesome game! As for what I really think about it... At this time graphics are now dated, but gameplay is still very intuitive and if it might be a somewhat buried feature they point it out in the tutorial. I really like at some points where you have to choose which path you take in this game to achieve the goal of getting to the surface :D. It was clear that they put a lot of work into this game and then there are also extra maps and things of that nature too if you want to play against the computer or friends (granted you would need to download these). I know that I have spent upwards of 200 hours playing this game in my life and it just never gets old. I sincerely hope that War For The Overworld (which is the spiritual successor to this game) is everything that we could hope for. Happy gaming :)
