Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest

This little gem is great. The ideal casual game. Simple to learn, nice to look at, fun to play and with a nice story. It probably felt shorter because it was fun. Is it worth full price; probably. Is it worth it on a decent sale; Definitely. I Hope they make a sequel.

The game feels great, but it have some major red flags. 1: If you don't like being rushed, just skip this game entirely. In most scenarios you will be forced to rush. 2: Play using a no-break. If your pc shuts down/reboot/turnoff for any reason, you lose everything you played in the active scenario; even if you "saved and exited" the game to create a save point. 3: The game has level ups and things to buy, but farming past scenarios is highly penalized. Too many people say the game is like this or it would be too easy/unbalanced yada yada. No matter the argument, these people forgot this is an offline single player game and none should be dictated on how to have fun. It would hurt none that is already having fun to have the OPTION to save the game properly, have a zero-rush mode on easy and let you farm early levels if you want to get better before progress.

A plot is simple. Yes, but it's pretty beautifully written with a bunch of alive characters and dozens of good jokes. A music is theme is short a bit. But it is beautiful. And it isn't annoying (unless you are stuck in the game menu for half an hour). And the best part that many "A-projets" are missing today. Very good skill system (no useless or stupid skills, no "kill-em-alls" that will lead you to the end of game without thinking. Very very well designed levels with different tactics in mind. Some of them can be beaten only with a good idea. Every level including the ones full of monsters, is a good puzzle. The game is really hard on the "Medium" difficulty. Some levels take hour to find a solution after replaying it three or four times... And I can't avoid appending that. As a programmer myself I have to say that the game engine is brilliant. It's fast, has a good graphics and runs extremelt smooth. If only the "big" RPGs was designed that thoroughly...

I love everything about this game. I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of polish. The gameplay is fun and rewarding. I look forward to other games this developer might create.

After completing with 3 stars the first 15 missions, I can say that this tactical / adventure / puzzle game is fun and quite challenging , brain required :)
