Casablanca, 2219 -- Zoë Castillo is, at first glance, a very normal young woman, but she is about to get involved in a conspiracy that spans parallel worlds and hundreds of years. Something is affecting the world -- static interference is disrupting technology, causing Zoë to see visions of a ghostly presence that is inhabiting a black house in a wintry landscape. As Zoë embarks on a journey where she eventually discovers a magical world behind our own, she will need to make decisions about what's important to her and what she's willing to risk for the people she loves. Zoë will need all her courage to unravel the dangerous web in which she, and the world around her, is entangled.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
character movement with mouse and keyboard quite clunky, to the point that I'm now stuck in the greenhouse after about 50 attempts; otherwise, quite a nice game to play, so far, but I'm about to give up
I usually never write a review. But for this game, I'll make an exception. I tried it without expectation and this is the first game in it's kind that I finish. The story is great and you just want to know more and more. I hope they will do a third one.
Longest journey is one of my favorite point and click adventure games. The story should have been turned into a book, movie, or a tv series..Something. I share the frustration of everyone else who waited 6yrs, and then another 6yrs for installments in this franchiese.
Ragnar Tornquist has entered into a profit sharing arrangement with Atari (the rights holders) and founded his own studio Red Thread Games to complete this trilogy. There is a kick starter for those you want to help fund it.
At release this game was a disappointment, but without all of the hype resting on its shoulders its a great adventure. Picking up where The Longest Journey left off, it tells a related but altogether different story. The non-puzzle elements aren't great, and the ending is quite a TERRIBLE cliffhanger, but the atmosphere is something special. It expands the world first seen in The Longest Journey considerably, and exploring it in 3d brings it to life. It lacks the challenging puzzles of the previous game, but still has more in that area than most "modern" adventure games released after it. I guess we didn't realize how dead the genre really was when this came out in 2006! They really experimented a lot here, and while it is hit or miss at times, it's really more hit in my opinion. I'm looking forward to what they can do in the sequel they are FINALLY going to attempt.
