Drakensang

I would often just stop and spin the camera to get a good look at the often stunning scenery. That same camera can be a little annoying at times as well. Technically, the game worked very well with no crashes in Win 11. The enemies are balanced well enough and if one area is too tough just leave it for a little while and return later when you are stronger. Puzzles and enemies never got to the point of blocking my progress and I took my time and enjoyed the ride. The end battle was easier than expected and I played it twice just because I was still shocked that the game had ended. I would have liked to see more variety in the armor and weapons but in hindsight once you settle on one weapon and one set of armor for each character you are basically set for the game. Melee fighting is most effective and magic is really only needed for healing.

This is a fun CRPG that has you using an esoteric system that will feel a little different than most of the others in the genre. However, due to the age of the game, it is very hard to keep running without headache. There are many areas within the game that will crash up save or loading. It is a bit of a minefield, and to make matters worse, when this happens it will often remove the selected savefile that it was attempting to overwrite. Sometimes leaving you gameplay time lost. It a shame that it is such a task to keep it going, because it is worth playing. Simply wish that was possible.

Better than any D'N'D

If you get switched to desktop with a mouse click, press alt enter, that's no win11 issue, that's an old one and don't forget direct x. Type direct x installer in your search engine and first hit should be microsoft with a version for direct x 9-11.

The graphics are definitely dated by today's standards but the gameplay, combat and spell mechanice, crafting and character development all still stand up. This game was seminal is so many ways. Definitely take the time to play!
