Description

Aeons ago, dragons used to rule the world, but it only took one man to steal the fire from a dragon to start a chain of events that eventually led to their disappearance.

What remained was a myth that passed from generation to generation that they amassed mountains of gold, and the other part where the dragons return to rule again has been all but forgotten.

Today, a band of adventurers has gathered together to become strong enough and find the mysterious treasures left behind by ancient dragons. Alas, the road to glory and riches starts at the very bottom...

Fun byte sized dungeon crawler

This game offers several improvements over the first game. It has multiple dungeons arranged under 'quests' that can be repeated (and at least most dungeons offer several different quests for the same layout). There are more characters/classes to choose from, and some gear this time. It is nice to just go in and do a run or two when you have a bit of time, but at the same time it is not a game that is max 2 hours and then done.

dangit it's so addictive

it's like if you took wizardry and made it not fiddly. i miss a little of the fiddliness, to be honest, but still lots of dopamine circuit satisfaction though!

An expansion of its predecessor

Cautious recommendation like the first game, as it is pretty much an expanded version of it in every way. The core of the experience is the same: real-time dungeon exploration, auto-battling nearby enemies (so avoiding encounters is quick wayfinding or walking your way back), everything revolves eventually around looted gold & simple but frequent decisions in dungeon-crawling, slightly dulled by the need to farm or intently progressing slowly. The dungeon layouts start a bit uninspired, but become really good later on; they're the reason to keep playing, as linear progression with a dash of radom skills or dispensable loot wears thin after a while. Party composition matters a bit more than in the first game, but your characters won't significantly shape your experience. An aesthetic triumph like the first game, with a beautiful filter on old-school public domain illustrations, & moody dungeon synth (that does become a bit samey after a while).

A nice sequel.

Look, if you liked the first one, this is pretty much more of the same - with more bells and whistles. They added way more enemies, and they scale with you, so no matter what you're doing, you're always going to be in danger - unless you outscale them at some point. I picked an all-girls party this time, and that made the game harder than it should've been, but not impossible. I played cautiously, and managed to finish it without a full wipe, which felt good! Unfortunately, it's a very niche title, just like the first one, even more grindy, so unless you're into lots of that, you should probably steer clear. But if you don't mind it - or, god forbid, love it - this is a no-brainer, especially if you get it on a discount.

Dungeon crawl go brrr

Excellent low cortisol stuff. Definitely takes the edge off when you got a quick dungeon crawling itch
