Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Origins as it stands is one of my all time favorite RPGs. This game succeeds at so many points. The game has a great story, setting, gameplay, characters, and mod support. I love the setting of thedas as it has so much potential for stories that can span multiple games. The great characters are what really help this game stands out from other similar RPGs. Every character is memorable, from the companions to the NPCs. Every companion is a 3 dimensional characters. And if you personally dislike a companion you will never find yourself outright hating them. The gameplay is very much like that of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic which is also a very good game. But the by far best aspect of this game is the story. You can choose from multiple origins, races, and classes. And these choices and the choices made during the main quest makes each playthrough different. This is one of the few games that I played through more then 20 times. The downloadable content add much more hours of gameplay plus with the mod support this game gets even more hours of replay value. This is by far one of the best RPGs I played and I can't recommend it enough.

I've played this game a hundred times, starting back in 2008 (if I'm not mistaken). And to my surprise I still find something new in there. There is much put into details and it pays off. The conversations are wit and interesting. Every personage you make has own unique background and it does influence the game. Every decisions counts. And there is a very thin line between good and bad. Which makes some of the decisions hard to make, wondering if you made the right choice. And what is the right choice, anyway? It's the first game where I actually felt like being involved in the story. It's a journey worth living for.

Remember playing it the day it came out. Nostalgia! I will probably install this game on my modern pc and playthrough it once again!

This was an interesting offering when I first played it because it took a look at the fantasy genre and then said, "What can we do that's fresh?" The dwarves and elves, for example, are portrayed very differently in this game than they are in most others. I found that very refreshing. And even though the majority of the game plays out the same, the different origins are just top notch. I can't really pick a favorite---but if you haven't played the two Dwarf origins, then definitely do that. So very good. Plus, the mod community for this game is quite active over on Nexus. Good stuff.
