Dracula: The Resurrection
Based on the characters from Bram Stoker's suspenseful novel, Dracula: The Resurrection takes you forward seven years from Jonathan Harker's faithful rescue of his fiancée Mina from the fangs of Dracula. Now married and comfortably living in London, Jonathan thinks his nightmare is behind him until he comes home to find a letter from his wife, who was bitten by Dracula several years ago on the night of his death. Unable to ignore her call for blood, she is returning to Transylvania. Jonathan's search for his wife - and his life - will take you through an Inn, Caverns, a Rail System and Dracula's Castle on his desperate passage to bring Mina back to London.

You must hunt down Dracula in an attempt to vanquish him forever. Follow a lethal trail in a chase from London back to Transylvania: from an insane asylum to Dracula's castle, and through an underground prison littered with the bones of forgotten men, arriving finally at Dracula's Last Sanctuary.

Games have bugs, poor design

The games have great visuals for the time (although the second game sometimes has a hilariously cheap looking game over screen). The story is servicable. The puzzles themselves are fine, but there is way too much hotspot hunting in the games. I can't imagine how much of a pain playing the game without a guide would be. The game even actively hides stuff. I had to be constantly moving my mouse across the entire screen, and I'd still miss stuff. The second game has multiple game breaking bugs. Also, the default shortcut points to the wrong exe, it should be pointing to game.exe. The third games cutscenes don't work for my game, and might even pose a health hazard to people with photo-senstive epilepsy because I just get rapidly flashing images when the cutscenes play. You should not buy this pack until GOG at least fixes the third game.

Great, Unplayable Games

Dracula 3 is one of the best point and click adventures i've ever played and works flawlessly... on a gen 1 ipad. On a windows 10 PC with a gtx 1070 however, it plays with extreme input lag and a framerate of about 5 no matter what compatablility mode you play in. Don't waste your money.

Atmospheric but bugged

Dracula: Resurrection is similar to other 'Myst'-like titles by Microids or Cryo Interactive, featuring a point-and-click adventure gameplay. Its story is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula and features the same characters as the original novel. Despite its success during the original 1999 release, the game did not age well. Though the original game had to be sold on two-CD jewel box, it feels awfully short. At that time, it was praised for its 3D graphics but nowadays it looks clunky and cartoonish. I found the original game relatively straightforward and easy to solve but got stuck at the end of the second game (Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary) due to a bug that prevented me from moving. Thankfully, I did not miss much. Sadly, I was unable to make Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon run smoothly as of the time of this review. and was not able to properly start it yet. So I am unable to say anything about it. I give it 3/5 due to good atmosphere, fair price and nostalgic value; but I have to substract two stars due to game-breaking bugs and short gameplay.

"Back in my day"

"Games weren't really better, I was just able to enjoy games which weren't particularly good." Sure enough, there's plenty of actually good old games, but these aren't some of those games. I played the first two as a teen and nostalgia brought me to them again. I was surprised how poor and short they both are. They're very low fidelity and require you notice tiny details. In one instance, you literally need to click on a smudge in the middle of very dark rubble. The only solution to find that spot is to hover over every pixel, or consult a guide. The second one also has a few save corrupting bugs that can halt your progress, requiring you to restart the whole playthrough. I found two as a teen, and third during my recent play. The third game started out very promising. I genuinely liked it and plan to finish it eventually. Unfortunately, it has no respect for your time and employs actual chores masquerading as puzzles. Find out the blood type of several samples, but not get told how to tell them apart - that forces you to test previous samples as well. There's no puzzle in that, it's just busywork. Type in a long string of text using an on-screen keyboard with wonky mouse movement (this is the point I gave up). That's literally not a puzzle, you just click on things on the screen for a very long time. When it comes to some of the tougher puzzles in this game, it's easy to get intimidated and think they're just way too brainy, but then you realize that they're really just poorly designed - there's usually many different ways such puzzles could be constructed with the clues remaining the exact same and sometimes you're required to make absurd leaps of logic. Solving these sorts of puzzles isn't rewarding. And then there's typical adventure game nonsense that will make you groan, like using battery acid on the hinges to open the door.
