Dorfromantik is a relaxing building strategy and puzzle game in which you place tiles to create ever-growing, idyllic village landscapes. With Dorfromantik, you can immerse yourself in a quiet, peaceful world at any time and take a break from everyday life. At the same time, Dorfromantik offers a challenge for those who are looking for one: To beat the highscore, you need to carefully plan and strategically place your tiles.
In Dorfromantik you start with a stack of procedurally generated tiles. One after the other, you draw the top tile of the stack, place it on one available slot and rotate for the best fit. Thereby groups and combinations of landscapes are formed, such as forests, villages or water bodies, and you are rewarded with points depending on how well the tile fits.
On some tiles you will also encounter special objects that give you a quest: For example, the windmill wants to border 6 grain fields, the locomotive wants to be connected to 10 tracks or the deer wants to inhabit a forest with at least 50 trees. Fulfill these quests to get more tiles to continue the expansion of your landscape. The game ends when the tile stack is used up.
As you expand the landscape, you can advance into new, colorful biomes and discover pre-placed game objects that give you long-term tasks. Through these tasks you can unlock new tiles, new biomes and new quests.

For this game to be more than a game that people drop in and out of it will need much more in terms of "biome variety" at the very least. IE more biomes like Fjord, lavender, etc. It could use with a bit more complexity as well, it is a repetitive game and not in all good ways. Once you get the basic gameplay loop it does start to stale out, but one should also remember this is in-dev/early access. I suspect my issues will be resolved in future updates, given the already high quality of the game anyhow. And, truly, even at full price I think it is very fairly priced for what you currently get and the future. Great work devs! Looking forward to more
I really like this game. As others have said, it's essentially Carcassonne, but without the peeps and without AI or multiplayer competition. All points are scored by achieving certain layouts (e.g. 10 fields touching), achievements which also add additional tiles to your hand. You keep playing until your tiles run out. Simple, slick, relaxing, with no time limits or other sources of pressure.
As others have also said, it wouldn't hurt to have a little more variety. My suggestion is to add seasons which would change the look of the tiles as the seasons pass, but not their configuration. That wouldn't change the game at all, but would make it less tedious to look at for long periods of time. Maybe throw in a few easter egg features, too, like a snowman showing up here and there in the winter, etc. A couple more uber-relaxing music tracks wouldn't hurt, either.
The tutorial is pretty crap. It gets you started, but that's about it. Scoring is not really explained, and certain English translation issues raised questions for me (e.g. what is a water train station, and why don't I need a land one for my land trains?). Also, having to reset my display resolution every time I start the game is annoying. (And I wholeheartedly agree with the guy who asked for screen-edge scrolling.)
All in all, a pleasant little game, especially for the sale price.
