Discuss your decisions with companions; fight foes in turn-based combat; explore an open world and interact with everything and everyone you see. Join up with a friend to play online in co-op and make your own adventures with the powerful RPG toolkit.

In Divinity:Original Sin you take on the role of a young Source Hunter: your job is to rid the world of those who use the foulest of magics. When you embark on what should have been a routine murder investigation, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a plot that will rattle the very fabric of time.

Divinity: Original Sin is a game that gives you a lot of freedom and plenty of gameplay mechanics to use or abuse. The game's epic story may drive you toward your ultimate end-goal, but how you get there is entirely up to you.

Or up to you and a friend, because Divinity: Original Sin can be played completely cooperatively, and features both online and local drop-in/drop-out multiplayer. Great adventures become even greater when shared with a trusted comrade-in-arms!
Enhanced Edition features 1000's of enhancements including split-screen cooperative play and Source Hunter DLC.

- New and improved user interface, graphics, animations, sounds, and visual effects
  • Become part of a reactive, living and vast open world. Explore many different environments, fight all kinds of fantastical creatures and discover tons of desirable items.
  • Experience gripping party- and turn-based combat. Manipulate the environment and use skill & spell combos to overcome your many foes: Use magic to make it rain on your enemies, then cast a lightning spell to fry them to a crisp.
  • Experiment with different skill combinations to ruin the day for enemies and townspeople alike.
  • Play with a friend in co-op multiplayer. Make decisions together (or disagree entirely), as your interactions and relationship with your partner influence the game.
  • Unravel a deep and epic story, set in the early days of the Divinity universe. No prior experience with other Divinity games is necessary, however. The game takes place well before its predecessors, Divine Divinity and Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, but will still feel familiar to fans.
  • Classless character creation lets you design the character of your choice. Endless item interaction and combinations take exploration and experimentation to another level of freedom.

I used to hate turn-based games

And I still do, this has to be one of the slowest games I have ever played. I grinded for 18 hours and feels like hardly any progress was done, each combat encounter can take like 5-30 minutes, not to even mention traveling around the world at the speed of a slug. This game is also a micromanagement nightmare with extremely clunky inventory system, basically having to manage 4 inventories instead of 1 and moving characters individually requires an annoying dragging operation. The 18 hours felt more like 2 hours on slow-mo

Solid cRPG with a lot of Trial & Error

If Divinity Original Sin is next on your list in cRPG games to get. You may want to fully understand the game first before attempting it. Because while at face value it does seem like a classic cRPG; The developers, Larian Studios offer something truly something unqiue that is quite frankly different from other cRPG experiences that will possibly not sit well with you. The main encompass of this review is: Trial & error. In other cRPGs you can easily get through the game if you just redirect some of your stats and whatnot if you are having a bad time. However, in Divinity Original Sin...it's more or less starting over again from scratch there is really no redirecting here and a lot of it banks on your knowledege of the class you chose in question. So if you pick a certain class that looks cool; stop. start over, and pick YOUR class that you have been playing other cRPGs with. Because you will have a hell of a time getting through the game in one piece. Other issues include how slow the characters move, my god & thank god there is a mod that speeds up the characters, a god awful persuasion system, and finally the combat system - i don't mind it but there are times where you just want to get it over with. Overall it's a fun game to play. Just know there will be a lot of trial and error, a lot of hair pulling, and a lot restarts before you truly finish the game.

Terrible item management

Loot is a core part of the game. You go to places, there are items in those places, you grab them, you identify them if needed, you sell them or equip them. By the life of me I can't fathom how horrible inventory management is. There's a "barter" skill, to improve your trades, obviously you'll only want 1 character to max this out or you'll waste skill points. There another skill to improve your loot quality. If you don't max these 2 on the same character everything becomes so painful. (and even then it's still aweful) In the game your party of 4 characters will each have their own inventory. There is no "move all to character X" option in PC. There is a ton of loot. So after looting and area you'll waste your time manually moving dozens of items to your barter character. And it's not just for selling them. Sometimes I want to move a lot of items between characters, except it's so annoying I just don't. This is an RPG. Items are a core part of the experience. Obtaining and selling them is too. Optimizing your strategy by having each character have the right items. Why must I manually move all the arrows to my marksman? Why must I individually click each and every one? This is not fun. Don't even get me started on identifying items. Why must I manually righ click and identify each one? Why must I have for it to be indentified? What is the game design justification behind this? You might not think something like this is enough of a reason to drop a title, but I value my time. I play games to have fun, not to needlessly move items between inventories.

Excelent Tactical Turn Based Combat

An excellent implementation of turn based combat. There is a wealth of options for character class, damage types, status effects, weapon types, environmental hazards, etc., and the way they all interact creates a huge variety of viable tactics. All of the character class options seem pretty well balanced. Some combinations work better together than others, but they are all equally useful and fun on their own. By the end of the game each character will likely gain enough skill points to have at least a fair number of skills in a secondary class, and depending on how specialized they are maybe even a third or fourth. The difficulty was tuned pretty well in my opinion; every time I felt it getting a little easy I would get to a new area with more challenging encounters. The non-combat parts of the game are also enjoyable. Exploration is fun and rewarding, and the puzzles are usually worthwhile. There are a sufficient amount of player decisions to be made, although they don't always affect the story. The story itself is fine; it gets the job done and provides motivation for what you are doing, but it doesn't go too far beyond that. My biggest gripe with this game is that it puts its worst foot forward. After getting a taste of the combat in the tutorial, you are thrown into the first major city for a lot of story and exposition. If you don't stumble into the graveyard, you could potentially spend a couple hours talking to NPCs before you get back into any combat. Fortunately, once you make it through that area the story/combat balance gets a lot better (right up until the very end, where there is a tedious dungeon puzzle in front of the final boss). Overall I would definitely recommend this game if you enjoy turn-based tactical combat and a wide variety of character ability options. It is a very long game, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
