I haven't even left Fort Joy. Because the goddamn launcher does not work. It is completely unresponsive. The game doesn't launch properly when I try to start it from the game files either. It crashes. Resetting the launcher worked once but not anymore.
It's a single player game. It doesn't need a launcher, and even if it did, how the fuck do you even build something so awful?
The game itself runs fine by the way. Although I only played it for an hour or two.
This is a neat little game in that it allows you to play a damn solid party RPG in full multiplayer.
That being said, while it is a solid RPG, both in story and in execution, the unique selling point usually works out in a negative way.
For starters, it is damn near impossible to follow the story in a multiplayer session. There is also surprisingly little support for multiplayer inventory/skill management, as while you can easily trade, you don't have a good way of knowing who took which item when. The game basically forces you to constantly read the journal to follow it.
Essentially I don't see where this is a decent multiplayer game, and playing it solo just shows that other games such as recent Obsidian offerings are superior as pure RPGs. Still, not a *bad* game. Just very mediocre.
what can i say, about original sin 2, that wasn't said.
I can start with this, it's my number 1 favorite game rpg, not to mention 5 diffrent races, multiple classes, 6 premade characters that can serve also as companions, cool tactical turn based combat using the environment and with a lore rich story that you can do with your friends in 4 player co-op it's very much to say, adding to it also arena mode in which you can fight online or in hotseat mode, and dungeon master mode where in goupe of five players you can play, in rpg campaign, like in pen and paper DnD session.
Choices have consequenses, big and small, no meaningless feeling quests, just how I like. Sometimes the combat feels unfair, but thats just maybe because I'm not used to turnbased games.
Very good music.
Very good voiceacting
Good graphics.
Bought the definitive edition and in my 40h gameplay only two bugs. Better than any AAA I've played.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition
I'm impressed:
It runs out of the box with Linux / Lutris
no hickups no interaction, just install and good.
My friends installed the game at windows and had a lot of hickups and a massive installation of windows addons like dot net etc etc. Took them several ours to find a workaround for the black screen from launching the Definitive Edition.
Linux install was 1/5 of the time what windows took. Started everything right away.
very very nice.
Runs great with Lutris and Linux 6.6.26-1-MANJARO, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, X11, v550.67, 2560x1440~144Hz, Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB RAM 3600hz
