You're either really good or left behind
I want to like the game but there are a few mechanics and design decisions, in this one and the first, that keep me from enjyoing them. But the good stuff first: + Graphics, effects, music and the overal presentation, especially the UI are great + The combat system is nice and deep + Wonderful writing and characters + A lot of character customization + Many ways to solve situations But the bad side is, that the game doesn't give you enough money and there are no ways to farm or level up, as mobs don't respawn. That becomes icky because everything you need, equipment and spells are pretty expensive but necessary to advance and ressurection scrolls are the most important part of that list, which are also very expensive. That in turn became a problem for me, as I landed on the second level with Level 9, while the level itself doesn't offer much for that range and most enemies will either just kill you outright (Level 13 and up) or are a pain to fight. The beforementioned need for those scrolls multiplies due the high difference in level and equipment, which I just can't afford or didn't reach. I basically land on a map where most of the enemies are too high and I therefore can't advance and can't level up as there are no lower enemies left to kill. I explored most of the map to solve this but to no avail. The game also doesn't give you any hint where to go, what to do next, while every wrong step potentially kills you due the level difference. Part two has a better log, still no questlog, but what it shares with Divinity: Original Sin 1 is this odd level design, the limited ways to level and gain income, and kinda need to steal everything to solve it, which I don't do. I can't recommend it, despite its wonderful characters, writing, graphics and UI. This is just not acceptible for me. Either play the game a certain 'right' way or have a vey hard life surviving. A game that is build on choices shouldn't limit the player this way.

Good but still buggy
A good game, with some flaws (like when you talk to someone, you MUST talk with the good character, because even if that character is in your group, he won't help / it's hard to aim at what you want to aim, etc etc), but still a lot of bugs (even companion quests bugs lol) ! It even crashes regurlarly in act 3.......

Crashes, crashes ...
Random crashes are very frequent: mostly when loading game, but also when saving or mid-game. Sometimes a save game is corrupt on save (crashes 100% on load). Things get much worse in the last chapter. It has been discussed endlessly on all forums, but no solution, just lots of nonsense like "reduce graphics settings". What's the point of having a relatively modern hardware if you are told to "reduce graphics settings to lowest"? Fake fullscreen helps a bit, but not completely. I submitted hundreds of bug tickets to Larian all by myself, one for each crash. Occasionally I experienced weird visual glitches fixed only by rebooting the PC (!). Technical issues really ruin what could have been a pretty good game. Otherwise: Extremely long load times (which makes crashes hurt more). Also the install size is pretty large for a game with a rather unimpressive graphics. Optimization? Never heard of it! Story: I personally didn't like it much, but it's clear they put a lot of effort. And the voice-acted narrative annoyed me a lot. Feels like a game created by a bunch of bored old postmodernists, no chance of real immersion. Gameplay and Combat : Similar to DOS1, a high quality turn-based combat, well-balanced skill system, pretty tough challenge on Classic, impressive boss fights. The game is pretty hardcore in every way, besides combat, it's easy to screw up a quest, or end up with an inefficient build. More mature than earlier Larian games, but could be also less fun unless you are a chess player. Graphics: Dated and deliberately un-cinematic. Even with a 3D engine it's basically an isometric tactical game. No cutscenes with people talking, you cannot even see the horizon. This is fine if you enjoyed older isometric games, just don't expect moder graphics or cinematic experience. While this game has a lot of potential, I cannot recommend it due to severe technical issues (crashes).
