Solid 3/5
After 5-6 hours it gets too repetitive, once you get on the big map it is constant skipping of battles that you don't participate in. (10-20sec waste/round) save-scumming is a must, especially on hard difficulty, saving before making a decision is also a must. When attacking an area it does not happen immediately so the enemy can respond by sending additional units, you can't, so you always have to overkill with a 3x bigger army to actually have a chance. The game pushes real-life issues on the player even though it plays in a fantasy world; - for example, banning or allowing religious teachings in schools. The only issue is that the 7 gods actually exist there... - having to deal with constant sexist, homophobic, feminist companions by calming them down (Every second turn (2-5min) at least one of them has an existential crisis) The game also portrays different races as different types of ideologies. - the dwarves' only value is gold, they would not mind destroying the environment if they could save gold, they are also sexist and homophobic. - the undead (they are not even a god-made race according to the lore) is a very conservative, religious, and homophobic race - the elves are the green + stop oil community, while they are progressive in terms of rights, they loathe anything that is not natural like a god damned trading route. - lizards are the diplomats who want steady progress and equality for all - imps are imps, the only race who actually feels like part of the world. Whilst playing this game I don't feel like I'm in Rivellion, I feel like I'm in a room with the most argumentative politically active groups. It is a waste of time, but for those who are bored, this might be a good choice. I see some reviewers who like the real-life political choices, but as a fan of the actual divinity lore and a student of political philosophy, I find that part amusing.
