thoroughly disappointing and unfun

i played for 10 hours and wanted to like it but i had to refund it in the end. the plot moves at a glacial pace, what few actual mechanics the game does have serve only to hinder the already terribly slow progress, and the frequent interruptions that served only to spout endless exposition had me resentful of the writing. this game is a glorified dialogue simulator, the absolute last thing i should feel about it is that the writers are wasting my time all the while boring and frustrating me to fucking tears. maybe disco elysium would have been a better book; it certainly wouldn't have been as aggravating if i didn't have to play it.

Absolute masterpiece

Best RPG I've played since The Witcher 3, though it is a very different rpg. Seriously incredible.

meh..

Not a bad game but.. meh.. This is truly not a game for anyone. I would say it has a VERY niche target. I did not like the performance: really no fps limit? i am burning my rtx 3080 at 240 fps.. The voices are okay but not spectacular, the dialogues are MANY, so MUCH text to read, so MUCH info.. it gets annoying really quick. I think i put like 6 hours in the game and i will not going to play it again ever.

Best RPG of 2019? No. Not by a long shot.

This game is so in love with its own belly-button gazing it forgot to be a game. It tries WAY too hard to be cool and edgy and different that it just fails at being interesting, fun, or entertaining. It was annoying to play, painful to endure, and frankly I can't imagine having so much time on my hands that I would punish myself by playing this game again. On the pro-side: the voice acting is exemplary. Kudos to the actors. (Side note to the production team: if you're going to make a game that's all about navel-gazing and want to use really big off-the-beaten-path words, at least let your voice actors know how to pronounce them properly. You did a great job with the pseudo-French pronunciations and accents but dropped the ball on the vocabulary.) On the puzzling side: why does a game with such a ridiculously simple interface and small areas to explore have such LOOOONG load times? I remember games that looked so much better that used 2-D tech (Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, etc.) from 20 years ago that ran better than this. While computing power is orders of magnitude faster now, apparently the code for this game is orders of magnitude less efficient. The graphics for this game are horrible. Sure, I realize it is "stylized", which in this case just means scribbled on the back of a bar napkin with a dull crayon. At the end of the day, I don't understand how this game won any awards (except for voice acting). Avoid this game, unless you feel the need to punish yourself for many hours.
