Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

I tried to like this game. I seriously put effort into it and kept playing for 20 hours... during which I kept hoping for something fun. I didn't find it. My major complaint is in the writing and characters. People laud this game for how great the writing is but I personally don't think using lots of fancy words necessarily makes good writing. In this game its just pretentious and trying too hard. Its not that I don't like reading (I LOVED Planescape Torment) and I played the speech version but this was just not fun to read. Not even a little bit. It doesn't help that I really don't care for all the politics either. Then there's the characters. Not a single one of them is likable, interesting or relateable, least of which probably the main character. I felt no love for him and not motivation to play as him. Finally... the gameplay. I definitely don't mind that there is no combat. What I do mind is that instead there are SO many skills that are so vague in what they do that you only find out once you use them. And then its different everytime. Choosing any skill is just like rolling a dice to see which way the conversation will go and nothing more. Maybe I am not intelligent enough to understand it than so be it. The skills felt more of an - again pretentious - excuse to shoehorn in some 'gameplay' where this game is really just an interactive story. The only aspects of this game that I found good were the art style and the music. They were both very well done and fitting to the theme. But that's not enough for me so I ended up just giving up on this game.

I read about how great this game was...but it's really nothing special. A plodding point and click story that tries to spew propaganda every couple of minutes, really tiring to see this become the norm nowadays. It's just an average game with average mechanics and ok voice acting.

More like a choose your own adventure book. Very boring!

As someone who loves Planscape: Torment and those types of games I can't stand this one. I give it 2 tries and rage quite both times. You don't have control over what your character is doing. You constantly dealing with random things it does completaly not related to what you choose. It's like instead of playing character you playing some demon who possesed that character without knowing that you are a demon and your host is constantly fighting with you to screw everything. People will try to tell you that it's about dealing with consequences of you actions but it's literarly not true because those are not your actions. As someone who is playing paradox games on ironman and total wars on legendary difficulty it's absolutaly not like that.

Bought the game. Waiting for Russian localization.
