Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

This is the kind of Art I truly love, so introspective, close to the Edge, the right mood that I love, a kinda hopeless mood that still obtains some last resembles of hope. The Moment you realize that all you have done is worht nothing, not even to you and it is all over, and you just accept your fate of living some live and seeing how this is going down. No ambitions other than the ones you make along the way. It is hard to explain the mood but I love it as it is the mood I personaly love to paint into my own artworks. But the game is so long, which for me is perfect, but you have to accept it. Actually I think the lenght is perfect, best to play it in one sitting!. Yeah that sound crazy! But seriously it gets you really in the mood, I also recommend starting the game drunk, but keep some energy drinks on your side. Nah of course I don't "recommend" that, I am just saying, it would be the perfect mood. And if the game keeps on going, that is perfect, life keeps on going! That is Art!. Well now you play art in a way that makes the experience allone art, so it is artception hahah, bad pun. If I ever would have to be stuck somewhere for eternity, I think I would want it to be Disco Elysium. Whatever that says about me.

A game that crushes the CRPG genre entirely, its original art style, story and significantly in-depth writing makes things like Baldur's gate and fallout seem like it was designed by preschoolers for babies. If you want an adult game that actually gets you thinking not only about its many intriguing mysteries and its world but about yourself and our world this is for you. This game was constantly on my mind when I wasn't playing it, and absorbing me when I was. The story is really good, and some moments left me feeling things acutely. Very dialogue-heavy, which I consider a plus. Honestly, very worth it, looking forward to another playthrough down the line.

Dialogue based RPG with lots of running around. Not La Noire. I wish there was a game combining the elements of both games. Not short, not long, but being an RPG the replayability factor shifts it towards long. Suggestion: change screen to grayscale when playing the bad cop for extra noire experience, embrace the decadence and darkness... The experience will stay with you for a long time. 5/5 get it now p.s. runs just fine on HD620

Disco Elysium offers us a new vision of what games could be, the writing was hilarious at times and heart wrenching at others. The world that you inhabit is alive and is saturated with so much ambiance that at times it was difficult to remove myself from it. So much of modern gaming is neglectful of the responsibility of art to be used as a lens for dissecting life. However Just as it is not inherently bad for a T.V show or movie to be a purely cathartic experience, not all games should aim to be thoughtful meditations of life and the social structural that we exist in. In general it has been the exact opposite with few games ever venturing an attempt to legitimize gaming as a platform through which interesting and complex narratives can be told. Disco Elysium takes this responsibility and runs with it. Though the political satire times can seem heavy handed the fantastic writing and perfectly suited musical accompaniment more than makes up for it.
