A decade after the First Great War, the final prophecy continues to unfold. Deep within the crevices of the Sacred Lands, the Chosen One has emerged, fated to bring salvation to some and destruction to others.
Braced with renewed faith and newfound conviction, each race must once again take up the sword for the sake of their people and the glory of their God.
Set in the magical realm of the Sacred Lands, four races - the Empire, the Mountain Clans, the Legions of the Damned, and the Undead Hordes - battle for the destiny of their gods. All of the campaigns and hundreds of hours of gameplay in one adventure package.
This has been on my list of games to download after playing MANY hours when the game originally released. This is just a pure strategy title from start to finish. The 2d sprite animations and background fantasy art work are arguably the most beautiful done in any game that I've played. This is definitely not an easy game to pass up, nor is it an easy game to beat. Once you get used to the leveling tree and how to master using your lead character, there are still many challenges to overcome. All I can say is save often, because you never know what will attack you out of the fog of war...If you were ever a fan of the might and magic series of strategy titles, this game will not disappoint you!
Extremely fun and satisfying game, if you like strategy, RPG, and/or turn based games you will love this.
Just make sure you download the Disciples 2 wrapper on modDB to run on your modern PC. Works perfectly even in ultrawide aspect ratios with no tweaking. Just run the EXE and install into both game directories and voila, old game works with new PC!
Game is great for TBS enjoyers. Use DisciplesWrapperV1.90 from from moddb to have access to some modern features such as higher resolution and upscaling. Ran into a couple of easy fixable bugs so i`ll share for others:
- odd enough the D2 - RotE expansion doesn`t have a "SaveGame" folder so it's unable to autosave or manual save. Just create a folder with that name or copy it from D2 folder.
- for me (Win10 or compatibility mode Win7) changing the default game speed of the wrapper from 1.5x to 1.0x resulted in game crashing if one of my heroes had to flee from combat.
I`ll give it a 5/5 because it's a game way out of it's era so having problems with modern systems it's to be expected. It's like taking a car from 1920 and disliking it for not having AC or surround sound system.
The atmosphere is really disturbing: they absolutely nailed the dark setting.
Even the little flocks of birds that you will see on your screen are actually unsettling.
Darkest Dungeon is nothing compared to Disciples II from this point of view.
Disciples II offers 4 campaigns for 4 differet races, plus a bunch of skimirsh maps (even these ones are story driven).
You play this game mostly for the campaigns, but the game includes a random map generator. Beware: it's not the best RMG ever made, since you have to edit some stuff. For example, randomly generated cities are empty while ruins don't contain any reward.
A bit disappointing, I know, but in the end you just have to edit cities (if you don't want them to be empty) and ruins (you can live without them I guess).
Also, Disciples II is old. It works, but you will probably need to play a bit with the configuration (resolution, compatibility mode, colors in bit). I highly reccomend this game in any case.
