DIG*GLE (n): an underground dwelling dwarf whose main function is to mine resources, harvest mushrooms and bat the enemies to survive. They are hardworking, but enjoy leisure time activities such as bowling, the disco, a trip to the pub and perpetuating the species. The Diggles dynasty has been chosen by Godfather Odin to rid the world of Fenris, the hound of hell.

BUILD YOUR CLAN

Odin made sure no Diggle is the same. Develop each of them with a varied set of skills and combat techniques so you can grow your clan. Give Diggles some free time, make sure they are fed and entertained and soon your tunnels will be full of angry babies. But don’t get too comfortable - there are other unique clans down there.

DEVELOP YOUR COLONY

Make sure your clan has everything it needs in your new colony. With over 50 production sites to master, you will be busy exploring the technology tree, crafting with 20 production tools, and gathering seven different resources.

DWARVES WITH ATTITUDE

Snarky Diggles always end up in some story. Watch for yourself - all quests are featuring hand-crafted cutscenes full of humor, dwarfy attitude, and their gnomish problems. There are many stories to be told in more than 40 quests. Digging into the mud was never this fun.

IT'S BEEN ALMOST 20 YEARS. WILL IT RUN?

We are happy to bring back to life the story of Diggles (or Wiggles, or Гномы - depending on localization that is closer to your gamer's heart). The game received its portion of technical care and now runs on modern operating systems without any extra shenanigans. The story, visuals, and gameplay are untouched - with all its charm and flaws. Enjoy playing the game on Windows 7 or later, without legacy DRM, no FPS lock, and with few extra DirectX11 settings.

This game is a gem

I've been waiting for the working copy of this game for so long. Always tried to find a substitute game but to no avail. I think the only one getting somewhat close was "Oxygen not included" but there was over-abundance of mechanics that just irritated me the longer I've played. Gnomes have simple mechanics, great ambient music, great 3D art style. You start with a couple gnomes on the surface with a tent and campfire and you dig down. Simple premise, but so much fun. You build your entire small civilization underground. Below in the tunnels and caverns you can find loot, random enemies, goblin hideouts, entire underground castles, dragons and even another gnome civilizations some hostile and some not. Mostly you will be digging to expend your base and find resources which will help you progress. Every new building give you access to new technologies. Some resources like iron or crystal appear only on the deeper levels, which encourage you to dig deeper. Technology research is based on gnomes skills. Gnomes acquire skills naturally by doing tasks: digging, cooking, building etc. So basically the more you play the more you discover. Also, there is a neat genealogy mechanic - each gnome finds their partner and their babies inherit a percentage of their skills, so you don't have to train them from nothing. There are some irritating moments. Sometimes there are queues of tasks and some of them are just not done even though there are idle gnomes standing around and you can't force them. No way of prioritizing work either, which can halt production some times. Still it's an old game and should not be voted down on missing mechanics that were introduced in newer games. I mean in what game you can go from campfire to fully equipped kitchen, from wooden outhouse to luxurious bathroom with jacuzzi, from riding hamsters (which looks fun) to riding on hoverboards, from fighting with bare hands or clubs to using lightsabers. It's bonkers and it's fun. Highly recommend

Re-bought this and it works on Win 11

Diggles is one of my favorite games. Easy to sink in hundreds of hours and lose track of time (probably because of the slow pace and the learning curve to become efficient grinding the tech tree). I used to replay the game from the beginning often cause it's more relaxing than managing 20 dwarves that are all on strike unwilling to cook food because they're hungry. You need to always watch those food stocks and keep them varied. Also, be careful not to unlock tiers of leisure buildings until you're ready to build them because the dwarves come to expect a higher standard of living as soon as they know it's possible. I have this on physical disk, but always had to install a Windows XP VM to get it to play correctly. But with the GOG version, I was able to just install on Windows 11 and it worked! Pros: * No more complex installation and update troubleshooting with GOG port. * It somehow makes micromanagement fun, but also the dwarves will pick up tasks to do on their own (after 11 seconds idle, weird how they coded that). So if your production queues are in good balance they *can* manage for themselves. * Randomly-generated layouts make every replay a challenge to get all your buildings aligned efficiently when the cave sizes are restricted randomly, but you can save scum when you're digging since the randomness is decided only as you're digging in that direction. Cons: * Game can be buggy. You can create multiple saves and when you notice that your dwarves are stuck tring to "Pick hamster 26" inside of a wall, maybe you can load to before the hamster got stuck there, otherwise, there are console command guides for `del 26` to fix the games TCL code while you play it. * Death spiral if you screw up your food production priorities, but you could say this is actually a Pro if you like Dwarf Fortress and all the "fun" you can have there.

Oh my god, it's Wiggles for Win 10!

Gog, I love you too! Didnt see this since now. I tried reinstalling and playing it on Windows 7 a few times years ago, and it was painful. Tried also to let it run in a VM with Win XP, not better. I'm so with PiggyBank here, also had to work my way through a few forums and different languages to install patches and other stuff to try to let it run. To see this amazing game for Win 10 makes me almost cry. It was surely one of the games I've played long and a lot and loved it. What I remember most and for all was the great humour which dominates the whole game. Spieleentwicklungskombinat did a very great job here. Can't wait to play it again. nostalgia pure!

Wiggles on GOG! Thank you so much!!!

This Game was one of my absolut faforit econemy and simulation + strategy games ever. It is like Dungeon Keeper + all Dwarfes simulations and many elements of the settlers. I had buy it as a original copy just of the moment it's released in Sep. 2001, and all the time I have played every now and then over all the years. From Windows 8 on, it was unfortunately only possible to get the game running with a lot of tinkering and so I usually played it only once a year. Because of the problems with the latest Windows versions, I hoped for a long time that GOG would make it like all the other old pearls again, and now it was finally so far. Thank you GOG team, you couldn't have given me old Nostalkiker a bigger Christmas present. If now a developer would start developing part two, my year would be saved despite Corona ^^ ;-)

Basically The Sims but RPG/RTS

I used to play this a lot as a child, it was something very different. The game basically combines "The Sims" with RTS and RPG. It's just great. I wish this version had the Czech dub and subtitles. It's very funny and adds more satisfying experience to the game. For some reason it's like the Czech dub just doesn't exist for this game anymore. My guess is that someone is holding rights to it? Unfortunately it's the only reason why i'm not buying this version. I guess i'll have to stick to my original box game :) 10/10 game
