Beelzebub, or Diablo I HD Mod, is a complex modification for the first installment of the Diablo series, which introduces a number of interesting improvements to the gameplay, a lot of new content and - most importantly - increased resolution.
Beelzebub enriches the cult Diablo series with a real mass of intriguing content, presenting it all in HD resolution. The modification adds new locations, missions, spells, skills and monsters, 204 unique items, 170 crafting recipes, several new character classes (Warrior, Sorcerer, Rogue, Necromancer or Barbarian), 28 sets and 105 set items, four difficulty levels available in the single player mode, as well as a host of other gameplay improvements. The developer has also thought of a few additions in terms of interface, support for widescreen, and - as we have already mentioned - full integration with the new Windows systems. There is no denying that there is a lot to it, so every fan of the series, especially of the ‘one’, will undoubtedly not pass by this modification indifferently.
Features:
Increased resolution and support for panoramic screens
Fully integrated with new windows systems
Many user interface improvements
New hero classes
All quests which were missing from original game are now implemented

The Mod you’re about to enjoy is the work of passionate fans who wanted to share their love in an even more meaningful manner. While every effort has been made to ensure a high-quality, stable experience, the original developers or publishers aren’t responsible for any issues that may occur from using this content.
It's everything you remember with all the upgrades. Only way to play. It still has the best atmosphere of all of them. A true gem. Why does my 9 month old son love watching me slay the hellspawn so much?
While I have an obvious bias rooted in nostalgia, I believe you cannot go wrong downloading this mod. The added quality of life changes and previously cut content effectively breathes new life into the game, and I would wager that at the very least, any fan of the old game that came out in '96 would enjoy this mod. As a few negative reviews nearly caused me to miss out on this content, I wanted to clear up a few things.
Yes, you are still able to move faster in town, you just have to turn up the in-town walk speed in a separate setting; it is in a separate settings pane you will fail to find if you are only looking in the main/esc menu. On the right side of the HUD, you will find a game settings button.
Edit: I had originally stated that the mod does not make the game more hard. I have enough integrity to come back here after a few days of playing this mod to admit that I was dead wrong. Many times over, in fact. Specifically, during the later dungeons is where the game makes it incredibly difficult to take even a few hits from monsters without dying, and I believe my rogue character was even fairly well-optimized. However, perhaps what is essentially a top-down "Dark Souls" game is what the developer of the mod intended. Therefore, I feel it would be silly to knock off a star from this review simply because it's not an experience I am looking for, as that would be somewhat egocentric and unfair to the author, who I'm sure spent a lot of time and effort putting this thing together.
Moving on, as some have pointed out, you indeed cannot save your game's labyrinth state. It will generate a new labyrinth everytime you load into a game, which is actually fine by me. But, I can understand if that turns a few folks off of the mod. Speaking for myself, historically, I would invariably find it necessary to start a new game halfway through anyway. Unless you are exceptionally good at this game, you are going to have to start a new labyrinth regardless of automatic regenerating feature of the mod, just to get strong enough to handle the later levels. Again, speaking from my own experience.
Overall, Belzebub revitalizes the Diablo experience, and I believe that most of the negativity stems from simple misunderstanding of where certain feature are and what they are getting into.
