Diablo + Hellfire

But first Diablo is more rougelite than H&S. And it is awesome rougelite. Monsters don't respawn so you will not be able to "farm" exp or items. Thanks to that you neither will be underpowered or overpowered throught game progression. Game is preaty easy but satisfactiony. I finished the main story (without Hellfire) as a Rouge and its took me 13,5h. It was well spended time! Before that i play a demo version about 1999 but it was too scary for me and i never reach the last avaible level ;) I do not have good memory of that game from childhood but still fall in love in 2020. You should buy it even for full price.

Fresh meat this may not be anymore, but the memory of it stays fresh – for all eternity! Muhahahahaa... One of the first, if not the first, to introduce this genre to me (and to the world). Yet one of my keen interests and an inspiration. Never fails me either. Best ideas draw in best solutions when catered and stormed thoroughly. This is the result. Thanks GOG. ❤

i played this on my old pentium 2000 ..man i love the diablo serie...i want to play Diablo 2 but its coming out soon as a remake i hope they wont fuck it up ...

Even though Diablo and its sequels paved the way for the ARPG looter genre, playing the original can feel slow and slugish nowadays in comparison to the state of the art. But it's good to remember where the origins of this game lay: it was supposed to be originally a Rogue clone, with turn based movement and combat -some of that can be still noted on the clunky grid based movement of the final game- and that's where it lays more comfortably. You have to play it as a Rogue-like, not as an ARPG. Don't "save scum", don't dupe items, just play the Single Player mode with mobs and fixed NPC stores. If you hit a wall, so be it, time to start a new character. The Butcher massacred your level 2 character? Such is life, time to start a new character. That way, the game doesn't have anything to envy of the hundreds of roguelikes that plague Steam.

Diablo still holds up after all these years. The gameplay is slow and methodical and the combat takes a bit to get used to if you are coming from newer arpg games but the oppressive and dark atmosphere and great characters really make this a timeless classic.
