Description
Twenty years after the events depicted in the multi-award-winning Deus Ex, the world is just beginning to recover from The Collapse. As an elite agent-in-training, you must match wits against numerous militant factions bent on violently reshaping the world to suit their own agendas. Armed with a multitude of high-tech gadgets and cyberpunk bio-mods, you are granted nearly superhuman powers. Travel the globe to uncover fiendish plots and convoluted conspiracies of world domination. Unmask the conspirators, and discover the shocking truth behind your own origins.

Deus Ex: Invisible War features the open-ended gameplay of its predecessor: use multi-tools and trickery to get past your opponents, or just turn their technology against them as you hack their turrets and computer systems. Along with bio-mods and choices that let you mould your character as you desire, take advantage of the numerous ways to customize your weaponry whether it’s to increase their rate of fire or clip capacity. Last but not least, take advantage of the various factions, such as the Omar who have the only black-market bio-mods, to further your aims.

Who should you trust? Who should you fight? Every decision you make affects the world around you. A good choice for RPG and action fans alike!

  • RPG-ish design allowing for multiple solutions to every quest, whether through stealth and treachery or all guns blazing!
  • A selection of unique biomods such as the Neural Interface that allows you to hack computers or Cloak to hide from enemies, cyberpunk style.
  • Globe-hop to real world locations such as Seattle, London, and Cairo.

Hm. No. Really no.

I waited a long time before I tried this. I wanted to be disconnected from the grandiose first and third game of the series, so I would be able to look at this objectively. And... what the hell. No. It is not a decent game, even if you don't compare it with the others. The animations are ridiculous. The inventory is next to useless. The level design makes no sense most of the time, and the hit feedback is not there at all. I tried to play it for some time, but I had to force me every minute of it. It is not even frustrating, but boring like hell. I just did not care for this game at all. And I couldn't bring myself to play it for more than a couple hours. Don't waste your time with this. Play the other ones.

game is pretty much unplayable

game doesn't even start up. and when you try to get the game to work it stops working after the game loads. level design is awful as well. also doesn't really feel like a deus ex game as its way too futuristic istead of this game being set in the near future like the first or even its prequels.

Big Shoes to Fill

Deus Ex: Invisible War, like many have already said here is pretty good game in its own right, it's just not good as a sequel to Deus Ex. It is not that it is a game that is horrible to play, in fact it is quite enjoyable and you think to yourself "why is everyone down on this game?" It does not, however, do many things extremely well or should I say Deus Ex expectation well. Everything from graphics, to interface to level design, to story are all adequate, just not outstanding. Outstanding though is what we all came to expect from it because DE:IW is the sequel to such a tremendous game. Just a little more time in the devs hands, or the destruction of consoles, could have been enough to make this title really, really good. Instead what we are left with is the little brother of a pretty impressive family, whose other siblings are doing great things and have left their marks. This one just needed a little more time to grow into those rather impressive shoes.

Disappointing Sequel

This was a tremendous disappointment after the excellent first game. Deus Ex: Invisible War is a scaled-down, "console-ized" offering where the developers hoped to increase sales to console owners instead of creating a masterpiece sequel. They tried to capitalize of the then-ongoing Iraq War with the subtitle of "The Future War on Terror", which only made it seem that much worse. Hopefully, this will all turn out to be a simulation in the mind of some artificial intelligence and can be safely removed from the canon. Hopefully the original Deus Ex will provide a true sequel, as there is still plenty of time to set it after the original and before this awful offering. There is still a decent game here, dispute the direction the story takes, and the game is worth the current price of $0.97. The four possible endings could not manage a decent one, as not one is satisfactory to be considered the "good" ending. It's little wonder why the developers chose to create a prequel for their next project, which turned out to be one of the best games ever.
