The year is 1988. Adventure game developer Delores Edmund, on hiatus from her job at MMucasFlem Games, has returned to Thimbleweed Park for a quick vacation. While she’s home, she’s making some extra money as a photographer for the Thimbleweed Nickel News. Hey, game developers need to eat, too!

Thimbleweed Park hasn’t changed at all in the year since Delores has been away… or has it?

…Since when is the S&D Diner a five-star establishment?
…When did the PillowBear™ become all the rage?
…Why is Ransome the Clown suddenly winning humanitarian awards?
…How come no one seems to remember that dead body that turned up under the bridge a year ago?
…Can Thimbleweed Park get any stranger?!.

In a town like Thimbleweed Park, a side career in photojournalism is the least of your problems...

Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure started out as a prototype for Ron Gilbert’s new point-and-click adventure game engine and grew into a fun little game. It is not a sequel to Thimbleweed Park and is probably missing all of the small bells and whistles that would make it a commercially viable game.

This was a challenging game to make because we had to use almost exclusively “found art” from Thimbleweed Park to create all new puzzles. Also because we couldn’t go outside IRL.

As a thank you to our fans, we are releasing it for free as something you can have fun with in these odd times. You don’t have to have played Thimbleweed Park to enjoy this mini-adventure. (But if you do enjoy it, why not check out Thimbleweed Park, hmm?)

To be played only after Thimbleweed Park

First of all, this is an engine demo for new Monkey Island, it requires Windows 10 and DirectX 12 (so a not very old PC). You can get it on Steam for Linux too but in the end I think it will require similarly not-old hardware. Second of all, I take it as a sorry for the tedious ending in Thimbleweed Park. Much more fun, thank you. Now, regarding the game itself. A few puzzles that are a bit out there and ties heavily to the Thimbleweed Park with some of them, possible spoilers. It was not bad and for the price it's a nice bonus.

A trip down mediocre lane

As far as the prototype, seems like a clean engine. I’m glad you could disable the hotspot chime because good God was that annoying. I’m hoping that was just for the developers to track bugs and that it doesn’t end up in any game… ever. But this demo-let also just reminded me how disappointed in Thimbleweed park I was. Unlike Monkey Island 2 when I yearned to explore Melee island when I rode the elevator up (but wasn’t allowed to) I had very little desire to re-explore this setting. Oh look, I'm playing as the boring programmer girl. Oh hey forgettable diner lady! Oh my god, its the less interesting fortune teller woman! Aside from the music, there’s nothing really memorable about the game. I know its free so, whatever, play it. Just know that it won’t be that fun, and you’ll only make yourself a few minutes closer to death after do so.

It's a good hook, exept

though it is a basic promis of this, there is no supernatural stuff happening. There are 30 miniquests thrown at you, and NONE deals with the basic premis. I can fogive not clearing what's happening, or that the randomizer puts the family back to the streets so the game can happen, I could overlook even the 1 or 2 moonlogic quest (especialy the one involving the out-of-battery gizmo), but the flipping reality is not adressed, and you have to suffer the clock-shop-or-whatever owner every single time. Oh, and I have no real clue what's the factor to make the sherif talk to you from the cell. Aside that, it's casual level adventuring, pretty fine, but if this cheats me here on the supernatural, I'm not convinced to buy the core game.

Win 10 exclusive without any reason.

I can play Thimbleweed Park, I can install Dolores, but I can't play it. Please why? That makes no sense!
