Death Trash features a world where cosmic horrors long for humanity but meet punks with shotguns. Influenced by post-apocalyptic, horror, and cyberpunk classics but with a fresh personality of its own. Death Trash combines the crunch and depth of old-school, role-playing classics with the controls and game feel of modern games.

Gameplay

Death Trash is an open-world, singleplayer role-playing game with handcrafted levels, a strong story campaign and optional local co-op gameplay.

The game features real-time gameplay with ranged and melee combat, stealth, multiple choice dialogue, an inventory of items and worms, a crafting system, and skills like pickpocketing and puking.

Travel through a gritty, post-apocalyptic wasteland by world map and explore hand-painted, organic locations. Meet exciting characters, talk to the Fleshkraken, visit the Puke Bar, or descend into old temples in search of expanding your awareness.

Customize your own character through stats and making in-game decisions. Experience the story and discover side quests. Fight against machines and larger-than-life monsters. Or become their friend.

Death Trash features extensive player freedom:
- manual save games
- dialogue can be left anytime
- kill everyone or...
- don't kill anyone!

Story

Humans traveled to the stars and some of them settled on the planet Nexus with its ancient secrets of stone and flesh. But secrets were unearthed, and the civilized people had to flee into enclosed habitats. The wasteland is reigned now by outcasts, controlling machines, and offsprings of the worm.

You are one of the outcasts, pushed outside with a dangerous burden to carry, and your path will take you through deserts, ruins, the underground, and beyond.

Singleplayer / Multiplayer Details

The main feature of Death Trash is the immersive single-player campaign. But the game also contains a local co-op mode:

- Covering the full campaign. The second player can drop in and drop out anytime.
- Second player has their own character, stats, inventory etc. but shared quest progress.
- Both players are restricted to the same location and traveling on the world map happens together.
- Both players can perform actions separately, including dialogue, and don't interrupt each other.
- The game has a shared screen mode (default) and a permanent split screen mode.

We're not planning an online co-op mode due to limited development resources. We will evaluate this again in the future.

What the gaming comunity needs

I dont mean to say this is the best game ever, or that you would absolutly love it. I love it, its completly of my taste, but i dont say this is what gaming needs cos of that. ç This game as a pure artistic and gameplay direction. Everything is what the autor wants to make u play and feel. and for that, is perfect for his purpose. Its original, its grose and beautiful. The story telling is really really good, the world lore and characters are one of the best ive played in a long time. and the gameplay is super fluid and its clearly made by someone that undertands gamers. I love, i would get it again, and i will recomend it to everyone with good indie taste. A gem, my favorite game of 2020, and its only an early acces. Thanks for this game.

Lots of potential

Idk what to compare this game to, I'm actually not someone who plays RPGs much, I even stopped played Fallout New Vegas after a couple of hours. But I did have a lot of fun with this game (~4h at the time of writing) and I'm excited to see where The combat is fairly simple but well made and it feels statisfying. I haven't encountered a single enemy that made me think "this was unfair", even the one boss that I encounetered felt well balanced. Difficulty comes through enemies staying in big groups, making stealthing a bit harder and the enemy variety. Some enemies explode on death, others charge you at anime antagonist speeds, and others will put 300 energy bullet things into your head in just 0.23 seconds. The different combat options feel fairly balanced too, both my melee claws and the ranged energy rifle are an effective way of fighting. And boy the grenades feel good. The game visuals and sound are really damn good. Even though the game is still in development, no asset I've seen or heard was a placeholder. Unless you're not too good with gore, blood or vomit. Overall, the content that is there now is very much polished, I haven't encountered any game breaking bug. In fact I've only encountered one single bug, that wasn't game breaking in the slightgest. One issue I have though: save scumming. This one ties into the genre all together, but I found myself very often using quicksaving to explore the different dialog options to pick the best one. This is 100% my fault, and I think you should limit yourself when playing the game. I don't really think there's a good way for a game designer to really prevent this, unless you make certain dialog options or quest progressions a hard save point. All in all I'm hyped to see this game come to completion. In conclusion, the toilet is not interactable, 1/10 would not recommend until that is fixed.

Fallout + Lovecraft + Meat

Imagine if Fallout fucked Lovecraft in the nearby Meat and Meth packing factory. The unholy spawn would be this game. This is a recommendation. I played it for a couple of hours and the game is superb. Visuals are nice, there are many ways to approach an encounter and the number of skills is pretty amazing. The combat is real-time, but there are moments, when you want to pause. Most notably while in the dialog menus when hacking. Other than that the game's been spectacular, from random naked vegan man following you on your adventures, to finding a friend for the friendly local Fleshkraken.

Action-Based Fallout on the Sega Genesis

If the 1990s Fallout games were action-based and done using Sega Genesis/Mega Drive graphics, you'd have Death Trash. Open world? Check. Post-apocalyptic setting? Check. Gritty, grounded art style? Check. Dark humor? Big ol' check! Optional side quests? Another big ol' check! Multiple endings - including those in side quests - based on player decisions? Yet another big ol' check! Toss in local co-op play, which Fallout lacked, and support for Linux and Mac and Death Trash has alotta bang for not much buck. Played on Windows 10 and Linux Mint 21.1, with an Xbox One controller, on a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U APU laptop, on a desktop with an RX 6600, and a desktop with a GTX 1050 Ti. Ran fantastic across the board.
