Description

Deadly Days is a unique strategic rogue-lite in the zombie apocalypse. Manage and protect a group of survivors and help them to stop the catastrophe. Discover and use a large number of wild and crazy objects, even wilder and crazier survivors, special abilities, and deadly weapons.

  • 60 crazy objects that make every game unique, including tooth paste
  • 30 powerful special abilities that can dramatically alter the outcome of fights
  • Three different specialties in which you can activate new abilities, survivors, objects, and types of weapons
  • 25 types of weapons with randomly generated modifications
  • Procedurally generated cities and missions
  • 50 different survivors with 50 different abilities
  • More than 10 different types of zombies who want only one thing: brains
  • And three bosses who must be vanquished at the end
  • Over 45 achievements that need to be unlocked
  • Lovingly crafted pixel art
  • Integrated twitch features – viewers become survivors and decide which mission should be taken on next

Use what you find

For every attempt to save the world, you need to find the best combination of objects, special abilities, and weapons. You must use what you get. Endless airstrikes or an army of rats? There are many paths to Rome, but you decide.

Search cities and conquer buildings

The cities are created procedurally, allowing for endless combinations. Plunder the cities as quickly as possible, otherwise an exploding zombie might blast you to pieces, or a zombie on steroids might stomp you to dust. Be careful! Very dangerous hordes of zombies await in the night.

What happened?

Shortly before the aplocalypse begins, the fast-food chain MKing brings out a new burger. The meat includes a secret, addictive ingredient to increase profits. The plan works. Over time, however, the drug, leads to the shutting down of all areas of the brain except for the need for fresh meat. Lots of meat! If that's not bad enough, the disease also prevents consumers from dying a natural death – violent means are the only option

Cute and fun

If you've played any roguelite you know the basics. Play randomly-generated stages, gathering loot and killing enemies until you die. Repeat but now with any unlockable upgrades you might have obtained on the way, in order to make any subsequent runs easier. So far so good. Where this game differs, of course, is in the details. Once you start a run you get to choose from one of 3 different specializations, each one with its corresponding number of starting items, powers and abilities that will help you play the game your way. Starting a run gives you a couple of random survivors picked from a pool of choices. Each kind of survivor has its own set of skills that will, again, help you customize the way you play (whether you want to focus on attacking, looting, healing, strength, speed, etc.). You then pick between a few random stages where you go gather loot and look for more survivors. Loot comes in the way of weapons, items (which give you passive abilities you can pick from), powers (which can help you change the tide of battle), scrap (used to upgrade stuff) and food (which you need in order to keep going). The more survivors you have, the easier things get, as you have not only more attack power but also more chances of gathering loot before night comes and enemies get more dangerous. Combat is automatic. Your survivors attack anything that's in range, but you can directly make them attack anything you choose as well. As long as you still have at least one survivor, you can keep going. Be mindful. Granted, difficulty doesn't just go down. The more you advance, the higher the number of enemies and the stronger and more varied they get. Things are random enough to keep the game interesting, but never so random that you feel your skill makes no difference. You also get daily challenges, for even more variation. Graphically, the game is great. Pixel art is appealing and everything is easy to discern. It's really a great package, and a lot of fun.

Fun but Short and shallow

This is very lite on the rogue-lite or is that supposed to be heavy on the rogue-lite I can never remember which it is. The unlock tree barely gives you anything and only unlocks things you still only "randomly" find in the game. Just like most rogue-likes... difficulty is not well thought out and is just shallow and there to get the badge in the cheapest way possible. Also just like most rogue-likes... RNG is a major component so as per usual... the human minds addiction to gambling is triggered. For me, I can only enjoy these games as long as something new shows up and once you have played with all the toys possible, the game is dead and worthless because the main loop is already old and tired with nothing new to do. This is the problem with all shallow games. Only fun for a short time until the novelty wears off and this game is very much having this effect on me.

A Fun Yet Difficult Zombie Game

This game combines a few of my favorite elements: 2D pixel graphics, zombies, and re-playability. The concept is also very simple: raid maps and don’t die. There’s no special reward for killing zombies save for a few unlockable items, so the mission is raid as fast as you can. Like other rougelite games, there’s a lot of randomness. You have some control of characters, as you direct them where they’re going, and the ability to aim in a general direction, but except for focusing on some big targets, it isn’t all that useful. Like a real zombie apocalypse, you do what you can with what you got. The main “issue” with the game is it’s near impossible to beat. The game ramps the danger quick. It isn’t a gradual increase in danger, but a big jump: danger level 1 becomes 6, 6 becomes 13, and so on. There are ways to decrease the level, but they don’t happen often or reduce the level enough. Level increases often spawn new enemies, some extremely dangerous. I’ve made it to the last level several times, but I’ve never made it past two rooms. Because of the random nature, sometimes you never get the chance to progress far. I’ve had one or two runs where I never encountered the levels I needed to advance to the last stage. Still, I can’t say it’s not fun. I’ve died a lot in this game and I’m still itching to go back.

Fun little time sink

There is not a lot to this game, but what is there is pretty fun. It is an rng type game for level generation and items. Your main goal is to maintain food for your little peoples and try and obtain new weapons that increase your power as the longer you last the harder the areas are. It is an over all simple game that is better to watch a video of someone playing to see if you would like it as it might not be for everyone, but like my self I quickly found watching the game play loop I saw it was going to be my cup of tea.

Frustrating slog

The intro was amusing, and the tutorial was useful and engaging enough. But the core gameplay itself is too repetitive and RNG-focused, with little to no sense of accomplishment or progression between runs. Unless I've missed something, your only meta progress is unlocking items in the item pool from which drops are determined, but you still face unbridled RNG in order to obtain them. You're just as likely to loot a pistol as you are an RPG or AK-47 or sword. Every weapon has its own level and rarity, too, so throw that into the RNG mix and most of the time you'll be running around with peashooters. Especially on certain maps where looting the objective takes longer than you are afforded even by the upgraded Coffee item, you end up swarmed with no chance of surviving because RNG didn't see fit to give you any AoE or high rate of fire weapons. It's one thing to lose a run as a result of poor skill or time management, overextending your welcome past midnight in a risk/reward gamble... and it's another thing entirely to get surrounded during the day because your party's damage can't keep up with the zombie spawn rate, because all you've found are common grey items with mediocre DPS. The procedurally generated levels provide absolutely no value or player attachment to the game world. All you ever see is a static base camp and a randomly generated level that no longer exists as soon as you leave it. Combine that with the ever-increasing zombie/mission difficulty, inconsistent drop quality, and the lack of meta progression, it's difficult to care enough about this game's world to suffer through all the RNG-driven handicaps.
