controls are wonky
let me just start with the ending only makes sense if you remember that the main character Randy cannot swim. the controls for some reason the directional input is super sluggish to the point when you are trying to climb over a fence you will often double rotate over the fence. when you climb a fence you hang from it from one side and you use the analog stick position yourself hanging from it from the other side sometimes you will position to the right then imediatly after position yourself on the left with out hitting left on the analog stick. not sure why this happens but it happened frequently and was very annoying. the game itself does not give you many clues when to avoid danger or how to navigate some of the areas and when you will be in a run and make it through the maze sequence before everything callapses around you situation which can lead most to get very frustrated with those moments. the games saving grace is frequent checkpoints so the run sequences become less frustrating and the game progression will still continue relatively quickly. for the ending it might take a little explaining as I did not really understand why both could not have escaped at first till I remmbered something from earlier in the game, Randy cannot swim I repeat the main character cannot swim Stella can swim which is why she escapes and Randy choose to stay behind it was either drown or fight the monsters. all in all not the worst I have ever played and if it was refined a little more could have been a great game.

Nice but not at this price point
It's a very nice game, interesting and refined, but the story can be finished in a couple of hours, with no replay value because some sections (the rat) are more a chore than a game. Basically, the first hour is a tutorial, and when you're ready to play, with lots of ammo and shotgun shells, the game ends.

Short is not a problem for me
People complain that the game is short. Well, it is. But for some people like me, that don't have the time to keep playing open world sandbox games (a la Skyrim) and invest 1000+ hours into a game, I find that 4-20h for a game is a good match. Deadlight is a nice game with a good atmosphere. The story is a bit basic, but kept me goind. Also, for 4h of gameplay it's hard to expect a Lord of the Rings level of storytelling. Controls are a bit clunky sometimes. Maybe because I used mouse & keyboard to play. Probably a controller would have made the game easier. Overall, the game delivers what it proposes to do.
