Classic Horror
Great game! My only complain is for GOG to add this to their preservation program. Could sure use some updating. Hopefully, EA will provide them the rights to the sequel, it's already been 15 years.

Survival horror with a great atmosphere.
Graphics are decent for its time and hold up well if you play on max settings. Audio is an essential part of the game and decent-quality headphones are advised; otherwise, use a 5.1 surround sound system. It's not advised to play this game with a poor audio setup. The game controls poorly using a mouse due to forced deadzone and mouse acceleration, but if you have good aim and you can tolerate both these things at the same time, you should be fine. There are apparently unofficial patches that fix certain issues with input handling. I chose not to apply these fixes as I did not mind. There are difficulty levels that you can choose from when starting a new run. I completed the game on Hard. Dead Space is a very easy game if you have decent aim and use your brain. If you rush through the game and don't pay attention to your surroundings, you may run into trouble, but you should not be surprised if you do not. Keep in mind that Dead Space was clearly intended for an audience of primarily console players, who at the time would be playing the game using a controller and would be capped to 30FPS; you're going to have an easier time if you use a nice modern display at 60+ FPS with a mouse and good headphones. The game is short, and you will likely complete it under 22 hours if you take your time. You are able to pause the game during cutscenes and during gameplay, to take breaks or attend to your real life. You cannot save the game at will, but you do not need to travel far do so. The game is stressful; do not play this game if you do not want to deal with stress. Decent reflexes are required in certain situations. The game is grotesque, people adverse to body horror should think carefully about whether they should buy this game. The game features good voice acting, but the protagonist doesn't speak at all. Player movement can be a little janky and slow, not all people will like it. There is a good story, it isn't *all* spoonfed to you. 8/10 make us whole again.

Scariest and truest one out of all three
This game marked as the one and only true survival horror/sci-fi game and one of the best of such in my opinion to date. There are plenty of jumpscare moments, even for those who have already played through the series more than once. EA really did a great job making every little detail of this game into a true horror game with actual scary moments, unlike the third sequel which incorporates more predictable action that isn't scary at all rather than true horror moments. The weapons as well as the environment you're placed in are both extremely immersive. Definitely a must-buy, especially if you have never played Dead Space before or any of the sequels. 5 stars out of 5 easily. EA, if you're reading this, please let this game return to what it once was like this, in some shape or fashion. Thank you.
