You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer on the spacecraft USG Ishimura. You're not a warrior. You're not a soldier. You are, however, the last line of defense between the remaining living crew and deadly reanimated corpses. The undead have become Necromorphs; horrific zombie-alien hybrids that won't succumb to traditional means. Fortunately, your offense is equally unique, as the high-powered mining tools at your disposal provide the means to fight against the threat.
Messy monster slaying.
The Necromorphs are unlike any enemies you've seen before. Headshots do about as much damage to them as flicking rubber bands. To survive, you'll need to dismember their insect-like limbs, one at a time.
Improvised weapons.
There aren't many traditional firearms aboard the Ishimura, but there's plenty of stopping power in Isaac's toolkit. Send horizontal or vertical blasts of energy at enemies with the Plasma Cutter, remotely control a high-speed sawblade with the Disc Ripper, and fill hallways with wide swaths of destruction with the Line Gun. Switch things up with alternate fire modes, and purchase upgrades to increase ammo, power, and reload speed.
Real-time attacks.
Whatever you do, don’t drop your guard. Everything takes place in real-time. That means any action you take, whether it be reloading or digging through your inventory, gives the Necromorphs a perfect opportunity to attack. This nightmare has just begun and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of what happened here.
This is possibly the best survival horror game I ever played. It looks fantastic for an older game and unlike other reviewers I had no problem playing it on mouse and keyboard. It's extremely slick and immersive with a good story to boot. I played it on hard and was glad that I did - challenging but certainly not impossible once you get the hang of things.
Dead Space is certainly one of the most thrilling science-fiction computer games that have ever been created and developed in the computer games industry.
It is very realistic in its depiction of very scary and very terrifying monsters, and first person combat action.
I always felt very frightened of the hideous and grotesque alien creatures that happen to appear in the most unexpected and unpredictable places/ locations in the game itself.
This game is definitely not for the faint-hearted or for anyone who is easily intimidated by freaky alien lifeforms or beings.
It is comparable to other well-known and popular survival horror genre computer games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Dead Island, Left for Dead, etc.
I always wondered how the developers manage to come up with such crazy ideas for such a outlandish computer game...
I suppose that the developers themselves must have very outrageous creative imaginations to be able to fantasize about such insidious storylines and ludicrous characters.
I like the option of having to upgrade my RIG suits, weapons, and other special types of equipment that are available to the player to help them to defeat the enemies and complete each of the different stages much more easily and much more quickly.
I have also bought and played the other Dead Space sequels, namely Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, Dead Space Extraction, and Dead Space Ignition.
As the franchise evolves, the storyline and characters seem to get more exciting, more intense, and more gruesome.
I like the other associated merchandise products that are for sale too - novels, apparel, art books, posters, watches, toys, cosplay costumes, video game props, busts, statues, etc.
I have also bought and watched the official Dead Space animated video series, Downfall and Aftermath.
They were both very exciting and very intense in their storylines and characters as well.
Overall, I do consider myself to be a big fan of the Dead Space franchise.
I loved this game the first time I played it and even now it still hasn't lost its appeal, Its a well done horror survival game, its scary and difficult but not completely hopeless, I don't like horror games that seem impossible to survive no matter how hard you try and this isn't one of those, its more like a bit of an Survival RPG mixed with a horror game and its got lots of action packed fun and cursing as you try again and again to survive the evil uncovered in space and learn what happened out there,
