I regret preordering this.
This is just a redrawing, with all the same animation frame-for-frame as the original. The original was a product of its time, and aspects such as choppy animation and limited mouth synchronization weren't done out of choice - it's just how technology was limited back then. I was incredibly disappointed to see no improvements whatsoever to the game, aside from the resolution of the graphics. I loved the original so much and played it so many times that I remembered all the small limitations and quirks, and now - now that we have the technology to improve the drawbacks but keep the spirit - the spirit is *lost* because the drawbacks no longer exist. It also bugs me that the controls are locked and can't be remapped. I'm so used to "y" (yank) for pull, "s" (shove) for push, etc. that I really don't want to have to get used to a new and less-intuitive keyboard interface. I still own this on CD. There's nothing stopping me from going back and playing this in SCUMM-VM. And now I see that's what I should've done, rather than spending the money to preorder. It's still one of my favorite games of all time. But this isn't a remaster - it's just a port.
