Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!
Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’)
Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart's desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.
Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators.

Loved it when I was a kid, still love it now. Great game, great artwork, good voiceacting, humerous and enjoyable with some good challanges to work through.
Day of the Tentacle is (in my opinion) the best adventure game ever made. It has different characters, multiple worlds and it does not take itself too seriously. Back in the day the puzzles combined with the time travel aspect blew my mind. If you never played this, don't hesitate to buy this game.
If you did play the original, this remake will not offer you anything new. I had the diskette version, so I had no voice acting. The graphics are nice and look very much so like the original graphics only in high definition. Besides that the interface became significantly less user friendly.
Still it is a solid game that aged well, but if you have the original, leave this version be.
Just love this game and loved the remaster. Is not perfect, but heck, who cares, it plays perfectly. ;-) I didn't like the new music, too much reverb for my taste. So I stick with the classical music and SFX. A nice option to be able to pick those on the fly and compare.
This is an excellent remaster, scaling nicely on a 4k monitor and the sounds are great. It has that scumm feel without being to "retro".
I took off one star because, for price, you're only getting about 6 hours of gameplay (unless you count the embedded Maniac Mansion hidden in the game). Additionally, there is a lot of walking in this game and no way to skip it. Newer point to clicks will warp you to the next room on a double click. I feel like this would have been a good improvement to the original.
